yes you do have to go to beauty school. You must learn about chemicals and what they can do to peoples hair. now you could do hair at your home but be careful because if you do anything to someones hair with chemicals, they can sue you..

Beauty college and College are two different things. To be a hair stylist you only need to recieve a certificate that you have completed the class in hair styling . Its not a degree as in regular college.

No you have to go to beauty school....different states require a different amount of hours that need to be completed befor you can go for your cosmetology licence....for ex. in RI you need 1500 at school and then you need to take a written and practical exam to get your license.....a college degree to go along with it would be nice when im done with beauty school i plan to get a degree in business....just for something to fall back on if hair dressing dosent work out or i want to change carrer's

Not sure about degree, but you do need a license in order to practice, but my mother-in-law went to school, I think it was Blaine, for a few years and she has her license now. You can get financial aid for it too, you only pay so much up front, a few hundred- a thousand, and the rest is taken care of. I'm not sure about the exact cost though, you'd have to look into that for your state and see if you're eligible.

Not necessarily a college degree, but you have to go to Cosmetology school and get a license.

You need a cosmetology license but not a degree. It's a good idea to have some training tho.

not a degree you have to have a certificate of completion. you have to go to school for it.
