Has anyone else had a near death experience with a certain 'budget' Irish airline??

Question

You know who I mean. Anyone else got a horror story after flying with this company? Or any other airline, for that matter?

A few years ago I had a rather nasty experience with Ebenezer Scrooge's favourite airline. I was, unfortunately, on a short flight from Belgium back to the UK. We had a problem with the wingflaps and had a very lucky escape as we came down at a variety of bizarre angles. Even the cabin crew weren't pretending not to be scared!

We did, somehow, land in one piece. The minute we got onto the ground we were unceremoniously chucked off the plane - we didn't even get towed in. The pilot announced that we could leave, adding "please use the front exit and DO NOT WALK UNDER THE WING." In case it fell on our heads, one presumes. So much for happy landings.

Just wondered if this company managed to induce aviophobia in any other normally sensible people who have flown all their lives!

Maybe I didn't eexplain very well? I've flown about 300 times, throughout my life, and I know what turbulence feels like, having experienced it quite severely on various flights. The experience I was talking about was not turbulence. It was the only time I, or anyone else I know, had ever heard a pilot instruct people not to walk under the wing - and that's in 28 years of regular flying. I'm well aware that budget planes often don't get towed in, but ours was due to.

Just wanted to clear that up. I'm hardly a stranger to aviation. Thanks anyway for your input.

No offence taken, Aido... I'm not saying they're awful because they're a budget airline; I'm just pointing out that I had a lousy experience with them! I used the word 'budget' so people would know who I was talking about as I didn't want to name them directly.

As for the comment before, kindly explain to me what is ''ignorant'' about the question? Nothing.

Possibly this is the same airline my daughter used to travel from Europe to Dublin - she wondered at the time why all the (Irish) passengers spontaneously applauded when the plane landed safely. You could have just provided the reason for this.

Although I have had bad experiances flying in the past with various airlines around the world, both cheap and expensive, I will point out there is a number of good reasons not to walk under the wing of any plane that has just landed,
1. To prevent discharge of any static electricity build up directly to your head.
2 because the wings are full of fuel vapour, if number one happened, not only would you be dead, but also a large number of other people.
3 so that ground staff can get to the wing to refuel it so they can take off again.
4 so that whingeing people dont roam all over the runway, getting in the way of other plans being landed badly.
Also, a lot of budget airlines dont get towed in on the account they are budget, and paying for bays and tunnels all costs money, which if they paid for, they would not be budget.
Turbulance is an everyday occurence in the world of flying, even the most expensive of airlines use the same planes as the cheap guys, all that differs is turnaround time, the mechanical basics of the plane remain the same.

there's a distinction between an intensive to-dying journey and a broom with dying. I even have had the two. in case you relatively like the subject i could advise you to envision the various books written related to close to-dying studies. an significant element of people have had those studies, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it has basically been interior the final thirty or 40 years that they have been overtly reported. in the previous this they have been dealt with as non secular studies and not shared. Many undemanding people have had brushes with dying, from donning injuries to highway injuries or scientific emergencies. maximum of those did no longer go so a ways as an NDE, the place the guy is declared ineffective or assumed to be ineffective. they are purely heavily harm.

I try and avoid flying with those happy bunch, but sometime I have to. I did hear a load of horror stories about them from someone who works for an airline with real seats. Pilots have to pay for their own interview if they want to join and many of the pilots do not have the proper ratings for different conditions when flying, so if the weather is doing something that they can't fly into then you are stuffed!

I could go on and on with this one.........

i didnt fly on this airline but on my way back from spain it was snowing and there were sparks comming off the ends of the wings i was on a different budget airline that also has no proper seats andit wasnt fun

my horror is that they charged me £80 excess baggage- this was 4 times the amount of the flight's original cost and what annoyed me most was that i didn't have any handluggage. this was shortly after 9/11 when handluggage was supposed to be kept to a minimum, so i did- and got penalised for it as they don't advertise that you're allowed almost as much for handluggage!
with that in mind i have usedd them again several times as they are mega cheap if you book at the right time.

Blaming an airline because it's a budget airline is kind of childish (no offence),
as flight problems can happen on ANY airplane,run by any company.
