I sympathize with you ! I used to have them chronically after I had my child. I was only 19 ,so much younger and would only go 1-2 wks between breakouts. I'm Much older now. The beginning chronic phase lasted over a year. I WENT TO EVERY KIND OF SPECIALIST TO NO AVAIL. Looking back,I think my immune system was compromised from the pregnancy. Also,I developed hypothyroidism from the pregnancy. That is a very common problem post pregnancy and it also causes suppression of the immune system. Ok, what I think helps on the long term: Get a good complex b vitamin and a good multi-vitamin. B complex helps support the nervous system while you are boosting your immune system. I've tried silver nitrate applications applied in the Drs. office, alum, hydrogen peroxide, being re-vaccinated for chicken-pox, some type of capsules that you broke open and they formed a yucky type of film, ambesol. None of these helped my pain or reduced the severity of the canker. I happend to try
Campho phenique and it seemed to shorten the length and severity. Now,if I feel that one is starting,I begin to treat it immediately. I dip a q-tip in the Campho and begin gently rubbing it into the area the break-out is beginning. It tastes awful but the taste is soooo much better than the pain. Rubbing it in over a minute is what I think is key. This has reduced the duration and severity consistantly and frequently, if caught at onset, stops it where it is in its' development. Also on one that is in progress, rub the canker for 1 min. as often as you can during the day. Once an hour is fine. You can gently rinse your mouth to lessen the bitter taste after each application .For me,I get reduced pain and sensitivity after each application.I wonder if the cold sore"fever blister"medication ABREVA would be effective. It's about $16.00 for the tinniest little tube but I hear it is a great product for fever blisters. Check with your pharmacist .I'm sorry this was so lengthy but Unless someone has SUFFERED with this, they just can't comprehend. Get your thyroid checked, get plenty of sleep, take your vitamin and b complex and try to relax. I pray you get over this very soon.

I believe that it begins with a "C" but you are quite close! They are generally caused by irritation to the inner-mouth area. I stay away from sodas and fruit juice during that time. Take a quantity of Vitamin C (1000mg to begin). Then take a smaller amount every 4 or 5 hours. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is washed from your body every 4-5 hours. The vitamin C will help to heal it. It will not help the pain as anbesol should do. Hopefully it will heal in the next two or three days! I would stay away from acidic drinks for as long as you can! I am rather sure that Chocolate will not cause canker sores.) Have a great holiday!!

Make a paste of sulphur powder and water. Apply to the affected area. Repeat process. two to three times per day. or only at night if you have to go to work. Two -three days, all gone. Avoid eating hot sauces, refried beans, lemons, any acidy substances. You'll be fine.
