I feel as long as they are in the R&S section thay may hear the truth and God may give them faith and change their thinking. I'm glad they are here and hope and pray for them.
2 Timothy 2:25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

For the same reason that fundies go in the biology section to spread idiocy.
Nothing ever can ever be "proven". We can't "prove" that gravity will work tomorrow. But the faith is different from religious faith. We are examining evidence and coming up with new ideas all the time, religion eschews this.
And I believe, in fact I know, that we have no purpose and came from "scum". Cosmically I have no more value than a gnat. In my community I have more value, but that is bestowed upon me by other humans. In some societies, being an atheist, I would have LESS value than a gnat. That shows me that any value i have is relative.

But we ARE animals. We are alive and we are not plants and we are not fungus so that leaves animals.
The evidence on which evolution is based is falsibiable, which means you can go out and find evidence to disprove it, so it is not a matter of faith.
I am not interested in the pros and cons of whether we came from god or evolved from scum. I just want to know the truth.
Would it worry you if you have evolved from scum as you call it.

Everyone who accepts evolution is not an Atheist. Most Christians accept evolution - even so-called macro-evolution. Pagans do, Buddhists. Most religions actually. So no reason not to be in the Religion section. Religion is not just two sided - Christian and Atheist.
And most Atheist's live have been affected by religion in one way or another so they have every right to come and give their opinions as well.

Evolution is a way to explain the development of species that has a mountain of evidence to back it up. Unlike religionally derived fairy-tales, evolution can be amended, or discarded altogether if contrary or more definitive proof is forthcoming. In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd

Honey, that's just silly. Evolution is still happening, and in fact, without the science of evolution, there'd be no science at all.
Evolution is proven countless numbers of times every single day. Faith is not. But then, faith, so long as the faithful don't try to introduce science into their arguments in favor of it, may be left to the faithful. However, if you claim science proves religious tenents are true, then that is indeed fair game. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Go ahead and go to your church and pray to your God, but you'd do well to learn about the scientific method too.

Science does not require personal presence. Science requires testable evidence. All the testable evidence supports evolution. Creationism has no testable evidence. I do not take evolution on faith, I have seen the evidence for myself, I've done the research, I know it for a fact that to be true. The creationists even admit 'microevolution' is true and then discount macroevolution, but then never define either of them in such a way that there is actually a barrier between the two. What naturalistic process blocks microevolution from continuing so much it becomes macroevolution?
You and I both ARE animals, so how can our moral value be different that that of other animals?
And if religion isn't science, why do you care so much about evolution?

Science is more than observation, it is evidence. and yes we know no one was there when it happened, neither was anyone around when things popped into being in 7 days, which I find far less likely. POP! There's the earth. POP there's the sun. POP all the animals suddenly appear exactly as they are today, in one instant there are cows and aardvarks and the HIV and the flu virus. I think not. I beleive in the coming from bacterial sludge, then a remarkable growth and development to more and more complex of life, each step branching off to create the life around us before finally creating us, and being able to marvel at that, and the ways the universe works gives us value, and who are you to say the animals are beneath you, i do not see the cows condemning each other to some mystical barren field because they don't moo at the same tone as you do.
Finally, i get to have better discussions in this section :P

Why are you in the religion section?
There are only two groups I see bringing up evolution here:
#1 are the extremist Christians who claim Creationism is the answer.
#2 are the atheists exasperated at questions by the #1 group who are solely trying to inform them.
It looks like this question is another example of the #1 group asking an ignorant question about evolution in the religion section and then being informed by the #2 group that evolution is indeed a fact that forms the basis of all of modern biology.

(1) This category is Religion & Spirituality, not Believers in Religion. Christians prowl the gay & bi category to preach, so are they secretly gay?
(2) There is evidence of evolution. There is no evidence of creationism.
(3) Evolution does not necessarily rule out a "divine" source. It rules out only the creation stories told in all religions since time began, including the Genesis folklore.
(4) Everything and everyone came from the cosmos. We are all the stuff of stars.

We have less value than some animals because of there rarity.
If you don't believe in evolution that's fine but don't try to force pseudo science and creationism on kids in public schools.
I can walk from my house and ten minutes later be touching rocks that are 250 million years old hit them with a hammer and see they are full of fossils.
There is a fossil record that is 600 million plus years old. This fossil record shows over that 600 million plus years organisms have changed in complexity consistently from simple soft bodied organisms to the complex array of life you see across the planet today.
We didn't need to be there to see it we can SEE it today. Maybe you should take a look?
Take a Sunday off from Church and get in touch with your local Rock-hound group and get them to show you some Geological History. Its fascinating!!
