what do you do when the ex YOU broke up with wont stop running through your brain?! we have been friends for more than10 yrs we dated multiple times. I decided that we couldn’t continue dating because I couldn’t stand that a 23 yr old (now 25) refused to move out of his father’s home OR get a better job OR go to school, basically he has no ambition to do anything better with his life. I enjoy his company, the physical chemistry is great, and he loves my daughter. But I just don't understand why someone can sit still in life. Shouldn’t you want to grow? It’s very frustrating because I know I can’t make a life with him because of these reasons. I mean how can he be a providing father and husband when he hasn’t grown since high school?! But I can’t help the way my heart feels. Even though now he is telling me there is another woman he is interested in and I have encouraged him to go for it, like any friend would. But I’ve never told him that if he got his act together I would love to be

with him because I thought I shouldn’t ask him to change for me, but my friend told me I should be fair and at least let him know how I feel. Yet again I have another friend who says ‘why waste your time when it hasn’t happened before it wont happen now?’ it all seems like a waste of time because we have gone back and forth. its seems like its to late what do I do?!?!

It's your choice. Personally, I agree with what you did, breaking off with him. You can't stand / tolerate what he's doing with his life. But of course, being ex - and great friends now, you still care for him. ONLY IF.... and that's it. Only if.
