A baptist church is a specific denomination. A non-denominational church claims to accept all denominations, but from what I've seen of most of these churches they are all pretty exclusive to what they believe, and who they accept.

That's a difficult question to answer since there is no set standard of beliefs in the Baptist church. The Southern Baptist convention did set up a creed, but it's more of a set of guidelines than actual rules. In other words, beliefs vary from church to church. Non-denominational churches are even harder to summarize since they have no association with any other churches. In other words, I can't give you a solid reason on what the difference is between Baptists and non-denominational churches. I'm pretty sure that the bulk of all of them believe that you have to be saved in order to get to heaven, but things can get pretty muddy beyond that point.

Ironically, the Southern Baptists seem to be becoming more and more like the Catholic Church every day. As stated before, they do have a creed (the Catholics have had one for ages), they have a president and elder committees (like the Pope and the College of Cardinals) and they meet regularly to iron out any squabbles over beliefs (Bishops conferences in the Catholic Church).

A denomination is a church that has there own set in ink;
1. Constitution
2. bylaws

non-denominational churches don't. they realize the don't have all of the answers, this is one reason why many end up leaving the denominational world, and many times because of finding more truths, I was a minister in a denominational church and after over 20 years I had to chose between traditions or God an the Lord has richly blessed me all the way!!!! No one denomination has all of the truths of the Bible, to say so is prideful and arrogant!!

Non- denominational basically means that it does not have all the generalizing rules that an organized denomination has.They also tend to strictly follow the teachings of the New Testament without throwing in their own ideas that suit them...for instance, I grew up Baptist and according to that church dancing, drinking, playing cards and smoking would guarantee your place in hell...but being a judgemental hypocrite was perfectly acceptable :)

non-denominational means that it is not part of any of the organized protestant churches. it can have a complete hodgepodge of beliefs as there is no centralized tenant. baptist generally are organized around the of course baptist belief system. the main tenant is that the baptize adults, not babies. in America, they are usually are a member or are aligned with a much larger conference , ie the southern baptist conference, which trains ministers, oversees missionary work and set forth a set of beliefs that all members follow. there are many more baptist traditions, to many to name, best bet is to use the reference library to find info on religion. there is book called Christianity in America, that i recommend on this subject.

You answered your own question. Baptist is a denomination of Christianity. Non-denominational churches are just that - churches where no denomination is specified.

Non - denominational Churches believe that the only Doctrine that should be followed is the doctrine of Jesus Christ, and the word of God. They also believe that denominational walls build walls between the people of God.
Paul said in Corinthians that if they call upon the Name of Jesus and believe receiving him is the only way to enter the Kingdom of God they are ALL our brothers in Christ and we should receive them ALL. No matter what traditions are followed in their churches.
Baptist churches I'm not sure of their doctrine but I do know that they are Great in preaching the salvation message.. You go Baptist...

It has to do with criminal affiliations. A denominational Church recognizes the authority of a better enterprise (such as a sect or denomination). i grow to be raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and am nevertheless lively in that sect. I actual have moved around lots, meaning I actual have been a member of various diverse congregations, yet all of them show the comparable doctrine and all recognize Gordon B. Hinkley by way of fact the present Prophet. i've got attended worship conferences in Brazil, Utah, California, and Hawaii.

A non-denominational church accepts all religions. They don't say you have to be a particular religion to enter its doors and hear the message.

A Baptist church is one Baptists belong to.
