So, driving to work this morning i heard an ad over the radio for a Reverends' House of Prayer....the ad was something like " suffering depression? loss of job? lonely and can't find that right person out there for you? Well come to Reverands' House of Prayer where God can heal anyone, all work guaranteed"
HUH? All work guaranteed? How is somebody going to guarantee something that God is going to do?....if that lady wants a man then she's guaranteed one (even if its not God's will for her life?).....i don't get how there can be places like that. And a few months ago i seen an ad on Christian television for a miracle annointing cloth...for like, $20.
i think that is the reason why so many people either have doubts in their faith, or stray away from Christianity all together...some people are making it out to be like magic. Have any of you seen this? And what are your thoughts about it (don't care about your beliefs, want an opinion from everyone)....have a kickin tuesday :)

Jesus said there will be false prophets. That's why it is important to study the bible, so we'll know what is the truth and what is lies. The bible also says that angel of darkness can appear as light. So, we who love Jesus enough to study His words will not be mislead. Those who make false claims, will have to face Jesus at judgement.

It sounds like the sales job you heard over the radio and the ad you read were obvious lies and deceptions - nothing but empty promises. I don't see the difference between these examples of yours and the promise of "life" after death in the Bible. It's all just a lot of nonsense, isn't it? Weather it's written in the Bible or announced over the radio, a lie or a fantasy just can't cut the mustard, can it?
.
It's time to get with it... Come to grips with reality and recognize that the honest truth isn't what you've grown up to believe. When we all finally dump our divisive religious beliefs, we'll be able to move on together to a better and more peaceful world of brotherhood... We can build a real Eden from the ground up if we want to.

Anybody remember The Rev Robert Tilton? TV Evangelist. Talked in Tongues. One of the original prosperity preachers (send me a thousand dollars and god will bless you with 10 times that). I think he even had autographed pictures of Jesus Christ or would have if he had thought of it. He was disgraced through the usual scandals (divorce, wife wanted the church, etc). That was like 20 years ago. He's back. Not in person, but he plays his old videos and gets new donations.

He's the preacher that you tube probably has with all the "fart" sounds in the background as he grimaces. a work of art.

Now there was a Reverend Bob in Dallas that Tilton may have based his personality on. Rev Bob was around years before Robert Tilton, but Rev Bob also spoke in tongues and requested you to send him boat loads of money. He always mentioned Pepsi Cola in his "tongues". Was a local comedian. Miss his phone line.

Never heard of the Reverands House of Prayer. I have heard of the prayer cloth. James tells you how prayer for the sick should be handled. No cloth is envolved. That other one is to me like playing God. Man I believe they will hit hell wide open. I agree I think junk like that is what causes people to lose faith.

I think what they meant was all God's work is guaranteed, and possibly wants to show how that can be accomplished through Salvation & Prayer. On the other..always watch out for scams when it comes to someone so willing to relieve you of your cash. Not just in the Christian realm...everywhere!

I agree that's why I and some many people on this site spend so much time trying separate so-called "christians" and real true followers of Christ. The truth that many people don't realize is that there are more people out there who confess Christ but don't really follow him or even worse try to profit from that profession that there are true Christians. With so many "religious" unrepented church goers out there it makes total sense why people feel that "all christians" are hypocrites. It makes me sick actually to see people on TV and such do such things. Its like spitting in the face of Jesus himself.

It has been around since the beginning of the church.

Acts 8:9 Now there was a man named Simon, who formerly was practicing magic in the city and astonishing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great; 10 and they all, from smallest to greatest, were giving attention to him, saying, "This man is what is called the Great Power of God." 11 And they were giving him attention because he had for a long time astonished them with his magic arts. 12 But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike. 13 Even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed signs and great miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, 19 saying, "Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." 20 But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! 21 "You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.

People have been using 'god' to make a buck for years and years. People are always looking to someone else to make all their problems go away, even pay big money to 'god-fearing christians', or 'fortune-tellers'. If only they knew the solution lies within themselves, nobody or nothing can do it for them.
