do all allergic reactions happen within a few minutes, or do some take longer than that. i had a bump on my face yesterday and i didnt think too much of it (eventhough it did hurt and itched) i put some ice on it to calm the swelling ( i thought it was a pimple) then i wake up this morning, and the whole bridge of my nose is swollen, my upper eyelid and a little bit underneath my eye...dont really know what to do...

This is an allergy, although to what I don't know.
Sounds like an insect bite, they usuallly leave a small red lump that itches.

Not all allergic reations happen immediately, people react differently.
Also, the more you are exposed to what you are allergic to the quicker and more extremely you react.

For instance, when I used to get a mosquito bite I get a red lump the next day. Unfortunately now if I get bitten, my whole arm / leg (even face once) gets completely swollen, as each time I get bitten, I react more strongly.

My advise would be to go to a doctor, who can confirm the allergy. They can also give you cortisone (or another anti inflammatory) that you can take immediately when it happens the next time.

If you have an OTC (over the counter) allergy med, take it. Allergic reactions typically happen immediately after being in contact with the allergen. This may be allergies, or a type of hives. You may see need to seek medical attention if the problem persists.

Have you taken any new medication recently by chance? Or did you itch the bump a little too much and maybe made it somehow infected? At first I thought maybe it was hives (one type of allergic reaction....) but I don't know with the swelling it makes me think maybe you somehow infected the area and it has absessed. I'm not too sure because I don't know if you have taken new meds that didn't agree with you or ate something that didn't sit well with your body.

If it continues or keeps bothering you contact your doctor, they can help you.

my case is like yours. that is called a delayed reaction to allergies. you have to always bring anti-allergy meds with you as prescribed by your allergologist, since allergy situations is viewed as one of the medical emergencies. since allergic attack can cause the swelling of our throat area, it can lead to shock. it happened to me. good i had presence of mind going to the ER in no time and it gradually subsided when hydrocortisone was injected to me.

I think the more severe allergies show up right away while the less severe show up later
