Hand clasping is signified as a plea or an form of asking in prayer mostly done by Christians likewise the Muslims bow their heads to the grown and some other religions lift their hands to the air as their form of worship.

Really there is no reason as far as I know. The bowing to God in prayer is a sign of respect, and it also shows our humbleness to God.

It shows respect to God. Putting both hands together with fingers all pointing up shows that for the moment you are only concentrating on Him.

BODY and SPIRIT
Whatever one does, it is reflected in the other. To physically prostrate one's self before God is not needed to reach him in prayer, but your body IS YOU- one must be humble with their whole selves and not merely with their hearts.

I don't know of any specific symbolism that is still attached to it. I am guessing that it comes from ancient tradition and basically just shows humility and sincerity of one who reveres and worships God.
