I will be only staying 3-4 months in Thailand but would like to keep my dough safe. I hear banks don't allow foreigners to open accounts is that still true?
Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Head offices of any bank can approve an account for a foreigner without a work permit. The easiest is the Bangkok Bank- their head office is in Silom Road, Silom- just down from Sala Daeng BTS station- get a B First account- ATM and visa debit card you can use in Thailand and internationally- also can apply for internet banking to check balances and make payments when your out of Thailand if you want to.

May be you can try to check with the local foreign bank like BOA (Bank of America), Citibank, HSBC (Hong Kong & Shanghai Bnak).

This link may not have the answer, but you can contact them and find out more.
