okay, well last night my husband wanted to cook ANOTHER turkey. well he carved it and all, but it was still a little warm when he put it into the fridge. Is it okay? and how is it suppose to smell? and please, no dumb answers, I get enough of those.

yup - the new rule is that it goes into the fridge right away. Still hot, still warm - in it goes. Used to be you'd leave it out till it cooled w/ the idea that it was better for the fridge. But the times have changed, the appliances improved. Leaving food, especially meat, out to cool drops the temp slowly into the danger zone where bacteria can multiple like mad and cause you to become ill if you eat that food.

As for the smell - I don't see why it should smell like anything but turkey.

It should not hurt the bird to go in the fridge warm. As for smell It should smell like turkey. Serioisly as long as it is covered it should be just fine.

Yeah, my mom always said not to put food in the fridge while it's still warm. She always told me that because if you put a hot casserole dish or something in there it will crack. You would know if it was spoiled. It will smell very bad
