Click on Tools on top and select Word Count. Highlighting also comes in handy when u wanna know how many words are there in a particular paragraph. Without highlighting, all words from the entire document will be counted.

it is probably slightly different in different versions but in word 2003, go to TOOLS, click on Word Count, ( no highlighting necessary)

YES.. easy.. when your docukment is up.. I usually highlight it(the whole thing) then I go to the menu bar on top and click on TOOLS.. there, you can click on number of words,,,, etc etc

on the toolbar. File, Properties, the statistics tab will give you the number of words and a lot more.

on mic.word open tools ,word count then it will open a mini screen from there your on your own
