I live in the border, I make money selling on Mercadolibre.com.mx (Mexico’s eBay.) I’m making a lot of money this month. I went with all my friends and family to afterthanksgiving sale, and since it was only one per customer, I gave everyone money to buy big flat TVs for me, so I could resell them on the internet to Mexicans. I’m also making a lot of money with the Nintendo Wii, they are very scare in Mexico. I’ve been buying from eBay for years, but I haven’t sold yet. There are some Mexican namebrand clothes that some Americans would pay top dollar for.
The problem is this, shipping to the USA from Mexico costs 5 times more than me just crossing the bridge just one block away, and shipping it from the US Post Office right across the bridge on the American side.
If I ship from Mexico, I would make no profit. Is it considered working for me to cross the bridge to ship things I’m selling on eBay to Americans from the American post office?

Yes, and the imports and exports that you conduct would be considered commercial transactions.

When you walk across the border Customs assumes that your purchases are for personal consumption. But if they find out about your "business" that you can be charged with Customs Fraud. The penalities for such fraud is upto the loss of the merchandise and 5 times the value.

Your having your friends buy a "one per customer" for you is dishonest. The restrictions are so that more customers can enjoy the merchandise at the lower price. While not "stealing" under the legal definition, it is definitely unethical.

The store could charge higher prices (and make more profits), but do not.

Export violations (failure to file Shipper's Export Declarations - SEDs) carry a $1000.00 fine per shipment for unreported commercial shipments.

However, your crimes appear to be the in category of being too small to be worth the effort to investigate.

But one day Customs, Department of Commerce, and the IRS may catch you.

And don't forget the Mexican government.

I am encouraged that your sense of morality is still intact enough to cause you to stop and at least ask about what you know is wrong.

Remember for civilization to work, the people must have a respect for the law. In the USA, that respect is waning and is being replaced with "its okay as long as I don't get caught."

I consider you that the would desire to alter the strategies, i.e., to flee from fact, is a undemanding human p.c.. i think of it particularly is a splash decrease on the checklist, however, by way of fact human beings p.c. love and/or companionship formerly they p.c. different issues. I additionally agree that the taxation situation, exceedingly while it includes marijuana, is critical. If everyone would desire to easily enhance it of their decrease back backyard, the government would not get its decrease like it does with tobacco and alcohol. The pharmaceutical marketplace has sufficient drugs to place the full usa into l. a.-l. a. land and then some, yet they federally regulated, are worthwhile, and pay taxes. Heroin and cocaine are extra problematical by way of fact of their addictive residences and skill deadly nature. If everyone would desire to legally purchase those drugs, affordably, there may well be a extensive spike (no pun meant) in overdoses, so in this regard i've got self belief the government, or a minimum of your familiar voter, is in touch concerning the wellbeing outcomes and not lots concerning the lost taxes.
