ok so if we start to follow aus.'s strict system, won't this simply increase the amount of illegal immigrants who aren't finding it hard to currently enter?

Furthermore, you suggest only letting in 'Professinals'?
- Did you know that here in the UK, (especially London) one in 8 in every 10 caterers are forgein/ immigrants. Additonally, these immigrants are doing the jobs that us UK are apparently 'too good' to do - and further more they're working harder than any UK citizen would and for half the price!

So if Big Tony listens to you...
- who will toast your panini?
- who will clean your office?
- who will look after your Granny at her old peoples home?
... the UK have lower employment levels than the rest of Western Europe and the US, although this figure is due to us Brits being too lazy to work. Different to current 'public opinion' the UK does have a current worker-scarity in the labour-intensive sectors over the long-term, proving we infact need more of these 'good' immigrants!

FACT. this countries population is ageing, in a few years time they'll be more OAPs than under 16's. This country can not 'work' without these immigrants - these people who come over legally, tend to be those who are working hard for pennies doing the jobs the majority of 'us' are apparently 'too good' to do. INFACT us brits are most likley to sit on our arses, scrounge on benefits, and have teenage pregnancies...

I feel the Public needs to be educated primarily on this subject, and trials be undertook such as 'Temporary Migration' or maybe try out Denmarks conept of a 10 year contract??

Controversial Topic!I agree completley with the theory of sending those wasters who come to take advantage of our social system back home but unfortunatly the reality of actually doing this is quite difficult. I am Irish myself and we here too have a huge immigration problem. I believe the only way to curb it is to have stricter restrictions on it which we here are in the process of doing.

However I have absolutely no problem at all with non-nationals that come here, work hard and just want to get a better quality of life for themselves and their families.

I should probably point out for the completly ignorant (this is directed to declan by the way) that if all non nationals left your country tomorrow the English economy would collapse...you absolutle fool. Many non-nationals do jobs that English people turn their nose up at so maybe you should get an education about how your own economy works before throwing out such idiotic statements that just make you look like a fool.

And besides I think Brits have some cheek talking about unwelcome foreigners in their country....what about the 15 current countries you occupy at the moment(and im not even going to go into the past because theres just two many to list!)

We've had Brits unwelcome here for over a thousand years destroying our beautiful country and they still won't leave...so why won't they get the hell out and go home?A bit double standard don't ya think!!

You’re not talking about immigration! You’re talking about asylum seekers
Well your right, I work for the council and we give temporary accommodation to asylum seekers. What happens is they get a 5 bedroom house which is rented from a private landlord via us. Now the rent could be about £2000 pounds for a property of that size this means that they can’t even work if they wanted to because they are not qualified or able to draw in that sort of money. So yeah they sit pretty in the house claim benefits until they get permanent accommodation.

Plus don't even get me started about the rate that they breed children that's a full time job within it's self they seem to think the more children they have the bigger house they will get. But we don't have mansions to give them so they live in over crowed homes

I personally think that there must be a better way to get these people to contribute to society rather then sponging off people that do work and getting free health care. And us giving them a big house to do it in does not help

yeah they should kick out those people who are doing nothing...
some of the immigrants are into some murky business, they don't work but still live on ... those who have committed minor crimes should be kicked out as well... I have seen fist fights in the streets of London and they were not caused by the locals...Whats the point keeping someone in who is simply a parasite

I have no problem with legal immigration, in that some people do come to other nations so as to make a better life for themselves and their families. Illegal immigration, on the other hand, is wrong, as it violates the laws of the country they're going into right from the beginning.

Immigrants that come into a country legally and work hard, contibuting to that society, are entitled to any social programs that would be offered to a native-born citizen of that country. Those that come in and contribute nothing, but expect everything in return, actually don't belong there.

All our relatives were immigrants. I may not like illegal immigrants, but they do work hard. And I know other immigrants that work hard also.

The problem is our government is giving too much to new legal immigrants. That's what needs to changed.

I feel it's a bit easier for Australia, since it's a continent surrounded by water. As for Canada, we here in the US like to visit them, but we don't want to live there.

Maybe you are thinking about all those wellfare moms. Another thing a great president thought would be a good thing, but ended up being a crutch for lot's of people.

haha you guys are funny.

Of the immigrants I know (as im from south london, so theres a lot of immigrants) I can honestly say I dont know one that sits on their ****. The only people that sit on their arses are the english folk, who drink and take too many drugs.

We all abuse immigranst, but I can assure you they will have the last laugh as when they are the doctors, the lawyers and the politicians and all us english will be still working a rubbish job that doesnt go anyway - and good for them.

UK really is the land of oppurtunity, shame the UK citizens themselves are the ones that do not grab the oppurtunity, until its too little, too late.

You are spot on, these dumb **** bastards that come over here are pushing out our own dumb arses, so if we kicked out all the dirty fuckers we would solve our unemployment problems. Blair is a ****.

OK my question is the Indians were here first so should we deport everyone? And what about the mixed nationalities whats hould we do with them? These people come here to make a better life and to make money just like you and me. Why can't we just leave them be? I understand they need to do it legally so why can't we make it easier to do it legally. They go to there consules and apply for visas just to be denied that is why you have so many men here marrying Americans and having children just to later divorce them and bring there other families here. So should we nip it in the bud and make a easier to become citizens.
