Need a little more information here. Is he gone away on a trip? Is he in the military? Will he be back and, if so, when? Or have your broken off your relationship and you miss what you had together?
You can't "avoid" missing him, but you can miss him without getting depressed over your situation.
If it is a temporary separation, there are many things you can do to distract yourself to help you get through this period. One of the things you can do is make a scrap book photos, memorabila, etc., of all the places the two of you have been together. Get really creative and involved in the process. Tell youself that when he comes back, he will really be happy to see this neat collection.
You can write to him everyday either by email or snail mail.
If your "missing him" is a permanent separation, then you need to do positive activities that enable you to "stop thinking 'bout him." Such as, doing something for someone in need - either volunteering at a shelter or going to your neighborhood food bank and donating your time, etc.
Join a gym and work-out everyday. Physical activity will "burn up" a lot of mental stress.
You can avoid missing him by doing something positive in your life to replace this negative feeling.
Go for it - you will be stronger and better because of this time in your life. It is through the difficult times that we learn and grow or we fall apart - the choice is yours!

Good question. Don't think there is an answer to that. Even if you were occupied doing things and keeping yourself busy you always still think about him. You can't avoid it. But why would you wanna avoid it? Missing and thinking about someone you love is good, because when you see and talk to that person again, it makes it even better.

You cannot avoid missing someone you love. Thinking about someone all the time is a part of love. The only problem is when you cannot think of anything else. Then it is obsession.
I think of my wife all the time and I miss her when I am at work. There is no way that I would want to avoid thinking about her or missing her. She is my life and I love her completely.
Take care,
Troy

When me and my bf split up fpr a few months last year I went wild and went out every night of the week. Being out with my friends and getting attention from other men certainly helped cheer me up and boost my confidence.
I would recommend some time with family and friends, but you also need time to grieve so don't go too wild like I did!!
There are plenty more fish in the sea hun and things will sort them selfs out - You just need to stay positive and look to the future. x

Its always best to keep a picture of him beside you, or you may view his clips everytime you come home.
That only goes to show how much you love him. I just hope he feels the same way.

not possible.... only time can help... and to make it a bit easier.... try to keep yourself as busy as possible. Or the best - to be with the person. Good luck!

Believe me, I know what you're going through. I don't have any answers for you; I wish I did, or I wouldn't be in this boat either.
