a good high grade puppy food without corn or wheat. grocerystore brands are crap. youy want a good dog food like innova, canidae wellness solid gold california natural that are all natural without all the fillers and preservatives the grocery stores sell and the vet sells. Read the labels and do not get a food that the first ingrediants are corn or grain products you want meat as the first ingrediants

Seriously, though - you should pick a high quality puppy food which provides complete and balanced nutrition. Avoid foods with too high a prtoein content to reduce the risk of osteitis; most are labeled as 'large breed' puppy formulas.

Well i have been breeding GERMAN SHEPHERDS for 30 years and have tried almost every dog food available and my dogs did fine so i thought until i started to have SKIN, HIP AND REPRODUCTION PROBLEMS.And yes i do believe and know that the food was the problem so i switched my dogs to the BARF diet and then no more allergies,hips or reproduction problems..Now we have GREAT COATS(less shedding)Solid Stools and VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY DOGS....For nutrition information on GERMAN SHEPHERDS go to Leerburg.com then to the nutrition page for your info. We use Innova... it's an excellent dog food without all those fillers like so many of them have.
