Erm?... I thought they were pretty much the same thing, but I suppose, if there was a difference it would be this:
Seeing someone casually would mean that you might be seeing other people at the same time, that you aren't that serious, that you're doing it just for fun and that you're not really in it for the long haul.
Dating someone would probably mean that you are going on dates with somebody and you intend for it to go further and to possibly have a long term relationship.

Casual means seeing the person with no strings attached. Dating means things could be serious "a couple thing stuff"

I think the answer lies in your perception of the "relationship". I think dating someone is when you are taking it a bit more seriously. Seeing someone casually usually indicates to me that someone isn't that interested but is still having fun.

casual is when its exactly that but dating is more official got the BF andGF tag but this is usually only called dating for a short while

seeing someone "casually" means going out with a person whom you are comfortable with and no feeling involved, while "dating" is going out with someone whom you have a relationship already and there's a feeling involved

I think when you actually start dating someone it becomes more serious and you're exclusive to each other. I'd say the main difference is monogamy.

I think dating is smth formal, but casually is smth that start to be dating. Understand is simple, "cassually" is the start point, "dating" is the plein action....
