Gain weight is common with smoking cessation. Don't worry weight gain in moderate amounts will not cause nearly the health concerns that smoking probably would. You can help to curb the gain by excercising (which will also encourage you to not smoke and improve further on the overall health condition of your body) and by utilizing other oral substitutes for cigarettes such as gum, carrot sticks/ celery, and a water bottle. Just know it will get easier as time goes on. Congratulations on your current success and good luck!!!

with exercise you can help take care of the unwanted weight gain but ... another thing that you can do is make sure that you are eating healthy.... its OK to eat fruits and grains in between meal these types of things will help increase your metabolism threw out the day... The other thing I would suggest is make sure you eat breakfast this will also help as well.... when you don't eat breakfast it puts your body in a fasting stage. Your body is thinking that it need to conserve energy so your not burning as many calories. So instead you may be thinking your are doing yourself a favor when actually your doing more harm

CONGRATULATIONS! GOOD JOB!!!

When I quit smoking, I found that the eating was nothing more than securing the hand to mouth urge. I bought pretzel rods (not small pretzels...but the rods).....I walked around for probably a month sucking the salt off of them. Cured the hand to mouth habit and wasn't fattening. In case your not aware....salt is a substitute for nicotine cravings, therefore.....pretzels rods are a way to "kill two birds with one stone"...as they say. As inexpensive as they are....if you don't want to eat them when the salt is gone....throw them in the trash.....still not wasting nearly as much money as you were on those nasty fags, as you call them. You appetite will decrease when your body adjusts to the changes you've made.....also.....drinking lots of water will help...not only will it give you a feeling of fullness, it will help cleanse your body of the toxins...of course exercise and fitness is always good.....walking was my best cure.
TIP: if your nicotine cravings hit....get to the nearest salt shaker...pour a little in the palm of your hand and lick it off......this will stop the craving!

Good luck, Congratualtions...and if you need any support...feel free to email me. I smoked for 20 years. Quitting was the best thing I ever did for myself and my children! Pretty soon your will feel healthier, have more energy and be glowing with pride!!!
