and there's been films about Christs life, holidays i.e. Christmas celebrating his birth, why is it SO hard for people to believe?

It makes me sad :(

P.s Christianity basically came from Judaism - Jesus was a Jew and then we believed in Him. So I do know that Judaism is the oldest but its just a question - no need to be petty people!

Technically, Judaism is older, and there were some pagan beliefs older then that (or around at the same time). And as for believing, I can think of a few reasons.

A. They are raised in a different faith. Would you change from Christianity to another faith? Nope.

B. They don't like rules. I've seen more people leave Christianity because they don't like the idea that if they do what they want, they will be punished after death. They'd rather do what they please and have no punishment.

C. They find a reason to not believe. Some are so deturmined to hate Christians (I've known a few) that they will find any reason, no matter how silly, to not believe.

Christianity is not the oldest faith. Please do some study before making remarks like this.

There's films about Merlin and King Arthur, should we believe in them too? Christmas was a Pagan holiday long before Jesus was even born, so Christmas, technically, is not a Christian holiday. Easter, though listed in the Bible, is not a Christian holiday either. Eostar/Ishtar... Pagan all the way.

It's hard to believe that for some people who claim to be in "love" with their Saviour, they actually know very little about where the religion about him comes from and where your traditions come from. That is what is sad about all of this. Especially when some Christians demand that they be allowed to do as they please within their religion, yet cry when minority religions, such as Pagans/Wiccans want the same thing. But the entire time the Christians are doing their religious thing, they are actually doing Pagan Traditions while saying the Pagans can't do them.

Talk about sad.......

People believe what they believe. Most of the major world religions have good and bad points. Personally I have faith in the Love of God but I do not think that any religion is self evident.
Wherever people live they build great and wonderful monuments to their faith. The wonderful Mosques of the Arab world, stone henge, the Vatican, the Hindu temples in India... so many monuments to how people feel for their God(s).

The oldest faith is not Christianity, or Judaism, it is the ancient religion of Zoroastrianism. The Magi (wise men) who visited Jesus at his birth were priests of Zoroastrianism. There are very few Zoroastrians left and they mostly live in India. There are even older religions that follow many Gods (polytheistic faiths).

Rather than be sad for those who do not share your beliefs why not go out and talk to them. Go to a Mosque and speak to the Imam, or find a Rabbi and have a chat. You might learn that their beilefs are more similar to the teachings of Jesus than you would expect.

Anyway - have a fantastic Christmas!

Christianity is actually a development from Judaism, Jesus was a Jew after all! Therefore Christianity is NOT the oldest faith, through paganism (or Wicca) into the equation and it actually begins to look quite young!

Films aren't necessarily factual, alot of them are fiction too and all religions have holidays and festivities of their own. You need to get used to the fact that everyone is entitled to their own faith, beliefs and religion.

Actually, Hinduism is one of the oldest recorded major faiths in the world--much older than Christianity and Judaism.

Christianity is 3,000 years away (at least) from being the oldest faith. Hinduism preceded it by at least 3,000 years, as did Judaism. And lest we forget, Jesus was JEWISH - he was of the Hebrew tribe(s) - he did NOT worship himself! You need to learn a wee bit more history. Also, you should read about the history of the Christian church, and its origins. If you want to know why so many people don't believe, you will find your answer there.

Since man could think we have neede the support of some sort of invisible friend. Or somebody to blame when it all goes wrong. My personal favorite is: http://www.venganza.org/ I will be launching my own religion in the near future. It has 275 festivals (days off work) a year. So I should get a few followers. This will then be the newest faith

hinduism was the oldest faith i believe

the reason it's so hard to believe for
me is the amount of bad things that have
happened to almost everybody i know,
regardless of faith, race or creed and
that includes me, there is a distinct lack
of beleif in a diety that will just allow the pain to
happenand the good times to roll on past.

i did not mean to offend, i promise, just wanted to
bvoice my thoughts, i hope this has helped in some
way

If you think people should believe based on age of the religion and the number of movies made about it, why aren't you a Hindu? Much older than Christianity and many more films!

Christianity is older than Islam and the Baha'i Faith. AFAIK, every other religion is older.
