During the daytime there is too much noise pollution. May be because of this their voice doesn't reach other dogs. In the night due to the silence the dog barks so that it triggers other dogs. They can also hear more clearly during night like some sound outside because their hearing is very sensitive.

Well, with relavance to Indian streets, it can very well be said that dogs, being possessive about their territories find more street dogs than human beings(who attend to them more often during day and to whom dogs are faithful) at night. They wouldn't bark unnecessarily on a human being, but would get its fellodog out of its territory at any cost, and the only way to express their angst is by barking... :-)

they bark more in the night because in the day, they feel neglected by loads of sound.
In the night, they get opportunity to get attention of everyone.
The dogs are also too much fattu(coward) so they bark just for a pin drop.
methinks that their owner donk like them to bark in the day so they bark in the night when their owner sleeps.
Dogs certainly can hear ultrasonic sounds and can see invisible ghost. I also heard of that from my grandma.

I think their Fattupanaa is the most likely reason !

dogs are territorial and have a great 6th sense . They bark at night if the sight or sound is not known, example a stanger in and around your house.

Mine seem to be more aware of what is going on and see more than they generally do in the day, even if it is just the movement of a leaf or a cat up the street or something. I can't say for sure, but my guess is that because it's quieter and more calm at night, they are more aware of what's around them.
