A man who is only being polite doesn't care what you are saying he is just trying not to upset you.

Check his eyes.
Is he looking at u or is he focusing somewhere away.
Ask him questions in between like - "u know why" , "U tell me" & see if u woke him from slumber.
Stop mid way in ur so-called-speech to check if it woke his slumber.
Also people who like u not necessarly have to be intrested in ur topics everytime.
R u discussing things that do not intrest him?
R u discussing things that he is not aware of?
Try talking about things that he is intrested about like the game last night on telly, etc.

a man that is really interested with what you are saying is looking in your eyes and asking question about what you are saying. people that just want to get in your pants tries to change the subject. so if i was you i would trie to find somone that really listen to what you are saying

If he excuses himself then he was being polite. If come backs to talk to you later then he is interested.
