As a devout Muslim let me say that I, for one, am not offended by a Christmas Tree where I work.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim

See this is the problem with our country now. We are all pacified so much to make sure that no one is offended. I am a woman but I can easily say that our country has lost its b-lls. All of these rules and regulations that are put into place in order to ensure people are not being offended are just making everyone a bunch of sissys. No one can handle the truth anymore no matter how offensive it is. I am not saying go around offended people that are different from you intentionally. But when Walmart says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas and when you cant even put up a tree in an office, well now thats taking it a little too far. Since when has Christmas really been that Christian in recent yrs anyway? Last I saw it was just some overly commercialized seasonal holiday that everyone celebrates....even my Sic friends.
If we are constantly trying to protect everyone from being offended then how are they going to react when something truly offensive does happen. We are just going to be living in a country full of sheltered sissys.
Thats just my opinion.

As a Christian Witness of Jehovah I personally do not celebrate Christmas and hate the way the season claims to honor Jesus but in fact is just a commercial gimmick based in false religion rituals and pagan beliefs.
But I disagree that anyone should prevent others from doing what has become their choice to do. The fear of offending people seems a little shallow for an excuse to ban it in the work place, after all, if a vegetarian were offended by thier works canteen serving burgers, would that be a just reason to cease to do so?

No. For many people, Christmas is not a religious holiday. It's a holiday where they get together with friends and family, exchange presents, and eat too much. Most of them have grown up with a Christmas tree. However, if anyone has a problem with it, then I suggest they don't put one up. But why should most of America change what they do to accomodate a few.
I am a Christian, and Christmas means much more to me than a tree, but I realize that isn't the way everyone feels.
Can you imagine in the forties and fifties if our parents felt that way? No tree would have been unimaginable! And no one was ever offended.

No, I don't agree with it. Christmas is celebrated by most people, even those not of the Christian religion (Pagans, Agnostics, Atheists). I wouldn't care about what my workplace does as far as holidays go. Even though I'm a Pagan, I still have Christian family and friends. I'm not sure why people get so upset over things like that. They should be more worried about what is going on in their Politics concerning things that matter to their community, rather than worrying about whether or not a decorated tree is upsetting someone.
This Politically Correct BS is getting old really quick.

As a non-Christian, I am pleased to see Christians express this tradition. Although the Christmas tree as a symbol has never had much to do with Christ's birth, I still believe that it's better for Christians to follow this ritual than to abandon it.
The world is a better place when people sincerely develop their spirituality. If the Christmas tree helps people, even in a small way, then it's a good thing.

Are "many" workplaces really banning Christmas trees or is this a kind of urban myth put about by people wishing to stir up trouble?
Although associated with Christmas, a Christmas tree is not in itself a religious symbol so I don't see why it would offend other religions.

With all the religion taken out of Christmas why is it a holiday at all? What is celebrated? If it is not celebrated then we should all go back to work like nothing happened. It has become solely a day for presents. There are lots of other days a year for presents that we do not need Christmas just for that. Let me celebrate Christmas with my tree and Church and you can work. If you are Jewish then you can work on Christmas and have a day or 2 off at Hannukah.

...I think the PC forces mean well (?), but how ridiculous can some get?
...That is silly - the Christmas tree has no religious significance that I know of.
...If you think that's bad, in Maryland within the last 2 years, some "sensitive" official or officials decided to ban Santa Claus from a Christmas parade, fearing him to be a sort of a religious symbol that might be offensive.
...Here is what I found funny in the whole thing - Outraged by this action, the public retaliated by having a "Million Santa March", where I think just a lot of people dressed up as Santa and protested - and as I recall, Santa won, and was reinstated in the parade.

No. Firstly what country are you from UK USA...the religion of these countries are Christian. Therefore if we want to celebrate a religous holiday in our own country as it has been for years and years then they (the offended) will just have to put up with it.
If it happens to be a global company and the offices are in UK..etc then we should be proud to show our belief, our religon, our culture and our national holiday. It also lightens up the atmosphere in the office.
Political correctness will begin to contradict itself very soon and then we'll all be so confused about what is "right and wrong" we'll have a moraless society on our hands..........too late.
Did you hear the story about the office canteen which disallowed ordering "black" coffee and had to be called coffee without milk......the coloured canteen staff were appalled??? Who are we actually offending with all these ridiculous rules!?

I don't agree at all! This country has celebrated Christmas for so long, I lm not a religious person at all and I love seeing the lights and trees. Our rights are being taken away! Everyone is just so sensitive now about other religions.
