It all depends if you want a big wedding or a small wedding. If its a big wedding You might have to start a year or more in advance. many wedding halls are booked 1 or 2 yrs in advance. If you find a good wedding hall you really don't need a wedding planner, they help you, they show you what they have and what they do, you just have to know what you want. You can save money by doing It this way. An afternoon wedding is cheaper then an evening wedding. Also I know of someone who had her reception on a Friday night and saved $6,000 for the same exact dinner instead of a weekend wedding.

It depends on the wedding planner how far in advance you should look for one. Most of them you need anywhere from 1-2yrs in advance because they have other weddings to plan. You can check out my website. I am a wedding planner and have a few other businesses on my website. The website address is below.

You may want to read this book first even before looking for a wedding planner......
In her "eye opening" book, Stephi Stewart reveals how she beat the wedding industry at it's own game and made her dream wedding come true, saving over $10,000 in the process. Inside the book she demonstrates step-by-step how any bride can take control of her wedding, avoid industry scams, get insider prices and much more...
You will be better prepared to start planning for your wedding and be able to have a dream wedding for less.
Visit http://www.klikks.com/wedding_resources to find out more....
I hope it helps!

I was engaged for 14 months and I got a planner within a week of my engagement. Start early. 2 years is not a long time...especially if you are having a large affair. Please plan accordingly. Set up a consultation with a planner of your choice. Interview a few of them before deciding. Happy planning.

Find a planner as soon as you can...the sooner you find someone, the better your chances of getting things done early, which will greatly reduce your stress!!! Start interviewing as soon as you get engaged and ask a lot of questions. You'll know when you've found the right one!

At least a year in advance is good. This should be enough time to really find a planner that you are comfortable with and who can get the best services for your money.

It depends on where you are and how elaborate you want the thing to be. It also depends on whether you have a particular planner in mind or any good planner will do.

Start soon. You need to allow yourself some time to find a planner whom you like.

Congrads!
As soon as you pick a date start to think about finding someone with experience. Visit a couple of the first and then make a choice on who you think is best to plan your wedding.
