Developing good eating habits. Some are:
Not doing fast food all the time
Cut out the junk food between meals
Keep them active to prevent boredom eating
Keep them active to boost metabolism
Buy better choices of food when shopping
Don't make them clean their plates if they are not hungry
Monitor and police the TV, computer and video game time
It's tough these days because kids cannot just go out and play like we could. There are too many child predators waiting for the opportunity now. But get creative.

Teens need to try and be more active; layoff of the video games and indoor activities. Taking the junk food out of their diets will also help. The reason for a large number of obese individuals is because of all of the convenient fast food places around. Also, when you live in a country that is flourishing, you tend to have more "hefty" citizens. Processed foods are partly to blame for our obese society. Get rid of the McDonald's and Burger Kings and I am sure the number of obese people will decline.

A healthy diet prevents obesity in everyone!!! Kids are FAT because they eat CRAP! Want to stay trim and healthy looking, stop eatting fast foods, chips and pop, ect. Include lean meats and vegetables in your diet. Drink water instead of sugar loaded drinks. Here's a thought...try WALKING instead of bumming a ride everywhere. Eat three healthy meals a day. Feel like a snack, how about carrots and low fat dip. Maybe try reading some articles on healthy eatting to better understand what you are asking.

most people are stress eaters, and there is a lot of stress lately. Normally, when they are stressed they eat chocolate, or something high in fat that is not healthy for them. To keep obesity away, eat normal sized portions of healthy food. Such as apples, salad, or anything high in nutrients. Lift weights and excersise so that way if you do gain weight, it will be muscle, not fat.
hope this helps :)

It's not 'all of a sudden'. It's been the case for ages.
What prevents obesity is balanced diet and lots of physical activity.

most teens...all they know of is fast foods..all that mcdonalds/wendys and others...that becomes their "diet" and in the long run...that causes obesity coz its mostly junk food and very unhealthy...thats the #1reason of all....
eating real food made real good is the best choice..not only to teens..but also to everyone else..
