You close the print preview and edit the original document.

Inside print preview, click on the "magnifier" icon once and click within the page. You will be able to edit the document without having to close the print preview. You may find the icon just beside the "print" icon

the print preview does not show you the cursor. however you can edit "blind" and see the changes live.. this is very undesirable.

your next best chance is clicking on "view-> print view" .. and change zoom to 70-50%.. you can see more of the page and make changes more readily as such.
