Why does a v-notch weir give a more accurate indication of low flow rates than a rectangular weir?

I have been asked by my engineering lecturer to find out WHY a v-notch weir gives a more accurate indication of flow rate than a rectangular weir. I cannot find the answer anywhere.

Because the v notch give you greater change in weir height for changes in flow rates.
