You don't have to meet a minimum for sales taxes to be applied. If you buy anything, you pay a % in tax. The only exceptions, are the 'sales tax free' states ... Delaware and New Hampshire are two of them. That 'tax free' status only applies to the sales tax. Even the states without sales tax have all the usual taxes for everything else ... property, fuel, school, municipal, etc.

You will pay duty and VAT on more or less everything you import.

Duty level depends on the goods but could be about 6% or more, VAT is 17.5% on top of the total.

If you're bringing stuff in yourself, say after a shopping trip, then you can bring about £150 worth of goods without declaring them.

unless you purchase it from a tax free state like new hampshire you will pay tax if you spend any amount of money.
