Many times people try to pry for things that they want for pleasure, There is nothing wrong with praying for something that will cause pleasure in this life, just as long as it don't go against the word of God, When you pray for something you need, make sure you need it, Sometimes we think we need something when we don't, I just turn over all my prayers over to God, since within myself I can not do anything, I just commit the prayer into God's hands & tell If it be thou will. And we Pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER HAS TWO PARTS.
#1. The petition---what you ask for.
#2. The desire----Why you ask for it.
So, take a moment before you pray to consider both what you are asking for and why you are asking for it. Try and make sure that your motives are good ones and that they are both in line with God's will. and you will have a greater chance of getting a yes on both. But the greatest prayer of all is not asking for something. The greatest prayer of all is telling God that you love Him and thanking HIm for what He has done for you already. I really liked your question.

Prayer to GOD is a constant process. One does not need to set fixed times or places for prayer, Every place and every time the prayer must go on. Prayer does not mean asking for a favor from God. Prayer is constant awareness of God.

If you are a Christian, pray to the Father in the name of Jesus.
If you are not a Christian, accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour then follow the above instruction.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

When you pray you just say what is on your mind. He knows what you need and he will give it to you. It like you are talking to an old friend who knows you better than anyone else. So just tell him what you need.

I don't pray for what I want, or what I need. I simply bring my requests to God, and rest easy in the fact that only His will will be done.

i don't pray for things i want or need. why? because i believe God knows our wishes, needs, wants, etc. since God is all-knowing, He is aware of my private needs and desires.
what i pray for is to thank God for what He has gifted me with. i also pray for the sick and sying people. at this time in world events, i ardently pray for our troops in iraq and afghanistan.

In my opinion, God never puts on us more than we can handle. If I were u Example Dear Lord, I know it's your will not mine but at this time if it is your will I need whatever, let your will be done. U don't just tell God, I need a heater lord to keep me warm, it's in his hands. God listens but put no demands on him.

Our Father who art in heaven (the first line denotes a relationship with which if there is none, He is under no obligation to listen).
Hollowed be thy name (holy, that we should not forget who we are talking to)
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (We should in prayer consider and seek what God's will is, because if we pray in his will we are sure to get what we are asking for, we should also be seeking to willingly be a part of God's will, that we would do his will here on earth, just as his will is done in heaven).
Give us this day our daily bread, (here's the part where you ask for what you want, need)
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us ( we can only recieve forgiveness for our sins if we forgive those who sin against us).
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the Glory forever and ever, (we are to recognize God's divinity, authority, and praise and worship him, honor him, and adore him).
Amen ( Translated to english "SO BE IT" a statement of faith, believing it to be so).
hope this helps.

The same way hundreds of millions prayed for God to stop Hitler before he killed 30+ million during WWII. You can expect the same results.
