If I buy a custom plate, is t there more paper work I need to do? More insurance? Hidden fees? Etc. Or is it as easy as just having a new plate and thats it. I just wanna make sure there isnt something i am missing.

All you need to do is fill out form MV-904, include a check for $20, and mail it to Harrisburg. You'll have your vanity plate in about 6-8 weeks. No other costs are involved - just the $20 when you apply (no additional fees when you renew your registration, either).

It's just a new tag. Don't forget to mount them! That's about it. No insurance consequences; many insurance companies don't even want to know your tag number anyway. They're only interested in the VIN. Tags can change, VINs don't.
