I don't mean pull out of Afganistan and everywhere else but we are not wanted in Iraq as 'peace-keepers'. Let Iraq set up a government and if the yanks are so insistent on being there why should we be there just to save them (again)?

Agree 100%, in answer to Pedohunter (Macho or what?) all of the hard work had been done when they "joined" the wars in 1917 & 1943, all of the wars they fought on their own - Vietnam, Korea, etc they have LOST, yes let them stand up for themselves again and lets sit back and watch the result

If we pull out, all hell breaks loose. We have had a few problems, and yes mistakes were made, but we should tough it out. I doubt that anyone here has given up when they have had a setback in work, or love, and this is simple a similar problem on a larger scale.

We are winning the fight against the despotic Taliban, and once the threat they pose is well and truly over and done, then we can leave, job done. If we pull out now, we'll just watch the region destabilise on BBC Worldwide, and Iraq would follow suit. So we need to finish what we started, then mobilise all available troops to Iraq, and help the country back onto it's feet. Then we can leave, with another job well done. It may take time, but it will be worth it in the end.

It is also strange that despite the fact that our countries are ALLIES, we still bicker and squabble amongst ourselves. Maybe if we all pulled in the right direction, we would get the job done faster. You can always complain AFTERWARDS, and it would be more appropriate to do so.

That's all I have to say.

I am sick to the teeth every time I hear that another one of our young men has been blown to smithereens just to pander to leaders who don't give a monkeys unless it's their own Bank account. Who are they kidding. The army say that they are doing more harm than good out there. Why doesn't Blair set an example and encourage his SONS to go to Basra to keep the peace the same for Bush.Iraq is a rich country how much are they paying towards the cost of the troops there.I say get the troops out of Iraq,Afghanistan NOW and pay for all these do gooders who say we should be there to keep the police to go in their place. I know you join the Army to fight wars but this is an illegal war, I hope all nations think of this when they vote next in LOCAL as well as General elections. It is not all of the Yanks but the leader
Blair and Bush you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Pull out of Iraq...if that is what your government decides...fine. When I spent 18 months in Iraq I had the chance to work with some of your troops and we got along just fine.

Maybe I'm missing something? Refresh my memory when was it that you saved our *rses? Lend-Lease, American pilots flying Spitfires before the US entered WWII, providing your country with satellite imagery and electronic intelligence during your battle the Argentina over the Falkland Islands in1982 comes to mind.

I do have a quick question you might answer for me. You have eliminated all but what...a dozen or less of your nuclear weapons right? While commendable and not doubt impresses the French and the Iranians. Just what to you plan to do if China, North Korea, Iran or ever France...they haven't really liked the English for 400 year...actually launch a nuclear strike against your fair country? Oh that's right, I recall reading that you're counting on us...that we, us the Yanks to save you *rses. Hopefully that will never happen.

I am not an American but man you guys have got your undies nice and twisted with your facts… A) Who is we? British I am assuming?! Although the sun never set on your empire but its still over, and must of this crap is your fault to start with. Afghanistan is admittedly America’s, but the rest of the Mid East is your responsibility. So own up! Take a look at every region that your empire left and look at the mess that is there today!

While admittedly, Americans are by far hopelessly confused and deluded you musts be kidding if you think you would have been able to have won either WW with out them?! Yes they waited till the last moment. But it was not till the last moment before you where going to win; It was the last moment before it was all over and you all would have been waking up every morning to the crisp sounds of Wagner playing in the wind (beautiful music by the way but definitely not a morning rotten thing).
And now, would you please remind me what war was it that you saved those darn yanks ‘rses in again? Please refresh my memory.

291,000 brave Americans gave their lives so that you could spew your hate in English instead of German. How did America benefit from that? It seems that we made a bad choice and should have devoted all our resources to wiping Japan off the map and letting Europe fend for herself. When did the UK save the US's @ss? Do you really think that your 7000 troops are protecting our 130,000? Get over yourself, the British Empire is long gone.

Brits "saved" the yanks? When in 1776 or 1812 when they kicked you out? Two world wars that you started and were losing, but who's counting! If you need to get out of anywhere it is Ireland!
The sun never sets on the British Empire...because not even the Goddess can trust a genocidal Englishman in the dark!
Pull-out? First from Ireland...Then like your father should have.

Go ahead and pull out of Iraq, and continue beating off in afgahnistan. Last time I checked, Britain was getting properly F#@$ed by Germany, Italy, and Japan during WW2 before the US joined. Also, if we were waiting to see who was going to win, why were we risking our ships to send supplies over to Britian in both wars?

If you want your armies out of Iraq, join the club. America wants our troops out of Iraq, Britain wants they're troops out of Iraq, hell even Iraq wants their troops out of Iraq.

So much for allies, huh?

In the southern portions of Iraq the UK forces have managed to keep the peace successfully. So why pull out now when they have achieved so much? In fact outside of the Kurdish regions in the north southern Iraq is one of the bright sides of the Iraqi campaign. The courage, discipline and commitment of the UK forces have been by and large welcome.

US Army Desert Storm vet who appreciates the contributions of our British allies!
