In relationships what is an acceptable age difference in your eyes? Just the truth please :)

I don't think we should allow society to dictate age restrictions in relationships. There is a 21 year age gap between my boyfriend and I (I'm 27). I have never been happier in my life. Just like with any relationship, it needs to have the essentials like trust, understanding, communication, interests, goals, etc. If those elements are in place, then nothing else matters. Love is the greatest feeling in the world, and age shouldn't stop anyone from experiencing it.

In my opinion, the acceptable age gap also depends on the actual ages. Let me show you:

15 and 22, or 32 and 39 - same gap, but the second is no big deal at all.

20 and 40, or 50 and 70 - again, same gap, but if the 70-year old is young for their age, it's still a lot more comfortable than a 20 year old dating someone old enough to be their parent.

Personally, I also feel age gap is reliant on personality. My Nan may be 90, but she has the same spirit for life that I do, which is why we are such great friends (I am 35). Some people in there 20s can be very mature, and I certainly know some 40 year-olds that are still immature!

I don't think that you have to choose an age gap. If you love someone then why does age matter. On the other hand I do feel it is wrong for someone in their 30s to date a teenager. The biggest age gap I have had was 7 years. I don't think that I would go much pass a 10 year gap personally.

I dont think there really is an acceptable age gap as long as you both are in love and feel confident with one another then its not a problem unless there under 16 and the other is older then it might be different if there having a sexual relationship.

I don't there can be a right and wrong answer to this question because what we all perceive as acceptable differs from person to person, the main concern you should have is finding common ground in an age gap relationship, as long as you feel you have things in common and your both consenting adults age shouldn't matter.

I am 24 and by partner and father of my child is 40! We have never had any problem from anyone with the age gap, we love each other and that's all that matters

In my eyes age doesnt matter - theres 6-7 years between me and my bf, im 20 in a couple of months & hes 26. I have always dated men older than myself, one of my ex's was 25. I feel that i can date older men better than nearer my own age. Don't know why, maybe i feel i get more respect, plus they think its good to be with a younger woman!
