Excellent point. The U.S.should consentrate on the individuals/companies hiring illegals at sub-standard wages, and impose LARGE fines to them.

In my opinion, illegal immigration is the fault of the federal government and there is no end in sight because it keeps giving them benefits. Illegals get free schooling, food stamps, WIC, housing, and they pay very few taxes if at all. The reason they don't pay taxes is because they get paid in cash and don't report their earnings. When they buy good like appliances and such and pay sales tax, they go back with a manifest claiming the items are for export and get their money back.
The federal government makes it very easy for illegals to come here. If a person applies for residency the legal way, it takes at least three to five years before they can get a visa, yet, when an illegal crosses the river, there are people here waiting for them ready to protect them and a government willing to give them their ''benefits.'' Why would any illegal in his right mind come here legally when they can just cross the river and have work, benefits and housing waiting for them?
Also, public opinion has a lot to do with it. If you openly are against illegal immigration, you will be branded a racist, a xomophobic, insensitive, and whatever other name they can slap on you. Nobody want to be those things.
Then there is the spineless Politicos. They don't want to lose the Hispanic vote, so the best course of action against illegal immigration is to do nothing and get reelected.
In the city where I live, the public schools reserve a certain amount of seat for children from Mexico. If your child is one of the unlucky ones to be one of the last to register and there are no more seats for Americans, he or she has to go to another school.
Employers can keep more of their profits if they hire illegal immigrants. Landlords are better off renting to illegals because they always pay on time due to the risk of being told on. As long as they pay on time, the landlord will not report them.
Wall or not, illegal immigration is here to stay.

Okay lets go with your theory about it keeping the cost of labor down. This is providing the companies are not hiding the monies and pocketing it themselves to avoid paying taxes.
Okay so they are paying JOE 3 dollars an hour cause he is illegal they don't have to pay him the minium wage. Now Joe gets hurt goes to the doctor. He lies about who he is So of course it's the american tax payer that ends up with that bill. On the way home from the hospital Joe gets into an accident. Most illegal don't have car insurance. So of cause it's that driving that ends up having a higher insurance rate and all the other legal drivers. Oh did I forget to tell you that Joe has TB so now everyone he has come in contact maybe very will have TB. If you were in the store shopping with him that could be you.
Yep that 1.98 head of lettuces just cost your much more the just five dollars.
The cost of everything can still be kept down. What needs doing is heavy fines for those who employ illegal. Many of those companies can pay minium wage if they can't find people who live in american that want to work for minium wage and they can't afford to pay more then they can work with the INS to have people come into american As Legal Aliens who have passes all tests required Including TB test. This way you know they are at the very least getting paid the minium wage. They are not going to give you and your family TB and the costs are still kept down. However why bother going the legal root when their is no one enforcing it.
What do you think?

Hiring illegal is cheap labor. When you have to pay someone $10 a hour and with a illegal pay them $5. So which one would you choose? Also, depending on where u work they pay for your room and board but the put 10 of you in one house. So you see in the end they make out. And with health care it depends on how you look at it if the go to a clinic it is based on your income and how many people are in the household.

You know I'm kind of tired about the crap with the illegal Mexicans working jobs no one else wants or that they are cheap labor. Neither one is true.
There are many people who would take any job to feed their families. And illegal Mexicans make very good money. The days of making $20.00 for working in the field all day are long gone.
Illegal immigrants from Mexico will never stop coming to America because both governments want it that way.

This issue is not going to be addressed or resolved anytime soon. Please see "The Shadow of Hate" America has historically isolated, and exploited many many groups. Native Americans, Blacks, immigrants and the list goes on and on. So long as someone is profiting, then we will continue to use Hispanic immigrants as slaves. Like it or not, except it or not, we have enslaved another race. When black people were enslaved, the slave owners felt that they were providing them with a service. Slaves were seen as barbaric and inferior. So providing them with food, religion, language, etc, was a noble service. Just as with cheap day labors, we feel as if we have done a good deed by giving him a couple of bucks because we feel that now this poor, illegal can feed his family. It has to stop.

Mexicans - legal and illegal brag about the freebies they get. They go to hospital emergency rooms that can't turn them away by law. They're paid under the table, contribute nothing to the tax base or Social Security. Ask cops how many drunk Mexicans they pull over in any given night. They are turning nice neighborhoods into what looks like the crappy places they left. They don't contribute to the economy, they send their money home. The ones here with families keep cranking out anchor babies (who should have to go back to Mexico and can come back here and claim their citizenship at the age of 21). That would stop their parents from thinking dropping a baby on US soil is their ticket to citizenship.

Cheap labor is not as cheap as you think. What people think they save is A L O T less than the responsible (employed) citizens pay out annually in health care and other ridiculous government benefits/give aways via taxes. The responsibility is on the media to stop hiding this from us

It is our government that is responsible for this debaucle.... the cost of goods may be lower but the cost to middle-class Americans is much, much higher - higher health care costs, lower standards in our schools, higher vicious crime, not to mention here in the DFW area it;s hard to hear a word of English! At least if our government would deport the illegals then middle-class Americans would have a choice to either pay the price for goods or not! The way it is now our government uses our tax dollars to support this bunch of criminals and we have no choice! We are MADE to support illegal aliens, their gazillion anchor babies and theiving big business......thanks to congress - both parties!
