I prefer strong communication in a relationship. When women go silent and leave you guessing what's wrong, that's playing games. I hope they're not all like that.

Women are evil, selfish, greedy deluded little creatures.

The silent treatment is generally speaking a punishment, and a tactic - aimed at putting you in a situation that forces you to apologies, even if they are in the wrong, because it's easier to do that than tolerate the silence and passive aggressive behaviour any longer..

So what course of action do you have?

Dump her - she will not give you the silent treatment again and it will readjust her belief she controls you. She will come running after you for a bit then give in but say you wont put up with childish behaviour like "the silent treatment" - it works. Remember women are like kids, take a firm hand and they fall into line, if you dont then like any kid, they will get out of hand and end up running you.

Think on brothers..

Very nice.Well just to let you know,we are not all like that.I guess we know that it annoys your'l and thats why we do it sometimes.True, strong communication is the best but unfortunately we dont all practice it.It is all just a game!Try giving her the silent treatment and she will hate it!If I have to do that, its either im looking for attention or im too upset to say anything I would later regret.I know-its terrible when you dont know whats going on in a persons head.I usually take it as a sign to leave that person alone and dont even bother to ask more than once what the problem is.If eventually they feel that they need to talk, then they must find their way to me!

The silent treatment is not an exclusive weapon to women. In fact, men seem to use it much more than women.

Ask women how often they've asked their boyfriend or husband, what's wrong, what would you like for dinner, what are you thinking about, and 9 times out of 10 you will find they get a grunt for an answer ot nothing at all.

Silence isn't always about you. My bf hates when I stop yapping, but sometimes I'm just longing for some silence. Its often cleansing and a way to de-stress. I could have things going on in my life that I need to think through before I talk about them.

Now when I AM angry? I'm not quiet to bother him or make him feel bad, I'm trying to not start a fight. I'm trying to work through how I feel about what happened, before I go after a solution. I've never been silent just because I've been mad at him, thats childish and out of the movies. Real relationships need communication.

Before a gurl will go silent, I think you MUST have been doing too much talking as a guy. Otherwise, the reverse is usually the case. I strongly advise you to do less of talking but much action henceforth - trust me, you'll see a different she immediately.

Well.... if you aren't telling her everything... then she has every right to give you the silent treatment. Not all girls use the silent treatment, but many do.

If I get quiet it is because I'm feeling like I'm not being heard anyway so why bother wasting my breath. I'm sure all women are not like that I can understand why you might see it as game playing but to me it is like I said. I am perfectly willing to talk if my partner will listen.

They can be... And it is great, cos it shuts them up... And it makes them worse if you just carry on with your life without acknowledging the silent treatment... :D

not all are like that....sometimes the silence is just someone taking the time to figure things out in their own mind....don't generalize with people and their behavior and you will get on much better...good luck
