I'm travelling abroad, and I'll stay for a month at my friend's home. They will cook for me and provide a bed. What present should I buy for them? I thought of something typical of my own country, but I don't really know what. Should I buy something for each of them (3 people) or one big present? Any tipps?

Wine or liquor from your country. try to buy a special bottle. You could also consider a beautiful coffee table book about your state/region. any other food product that is produced locally ( and travels well) like preserves, maple syrup...etc. A calendar of your area is a nice inexpensive gift.

Food works, and if it's packaged, it probably won't be a problem on the plane. Is there a product that most people associate with your country that fits into your budget? Remember that not everyone drinks wine (or at all) so you might want to ask your friend if you want to go that route - it is a nice gift. I agree with doing one present. If you wait until you're in town, a houseplant is generally a nice gift.

Ditto, wine/etc. Is hard to get out of the US through customs. Duty Free may be able to help with that, it's a store at the Airport that is past customs, and you buy your items past security, then have it sent to your location, and pick it up when you land. One big present for the family would probably be best, a fruit basket or something would be appropriate.

It's easier to by something for all of them like chocolates, some kind of food typical of your country (make sure it's allowed on the plane) or you may want to give each a small souvenir typical of your country.

I'd buy something in their homeland because customs
these days are so feisty and thy might mess it up or even
keep it for themselves. Buy one gift for the whole family
a fruit basket or expensive box of choclates. Maybe if
your really clued in you could figure out what they'd like
while you are there. Have a nice trip!
