I have read the book "you can heal your life" by Louise Hay. I got it from the library. A lot of it makes sense to me and would explain a lot.

Do you feel that a lot of us bring on our our ailments sometimes due to negative thoughts/feelings?

I do realize that some health problems come from bacteria/viruses/spores etc for I have had enough microbiology and biochem classes to know that. I do think the mind is a very powerful tool as well and can sometimes alter our body in subtle ways.

what are your thoughts on this?

I absolutely believe in the mind/body connection, but you can throw "spirit" in the mix as well.
If you'd like to read something else interesting, look for "Heal Thyself" and "The Twelve Healers" by Edward Bach. He created the Bach Flower Remedies, which you may or may not have heard of. They're short books, but very powerful, I think.
As for bacteria/viruses/spores etc causing disease, once you read these writings, your opinion of those will change, too :)
I could write about this all night, but really, find these books. They say it all. They might be hard to find, I don't know, but the internet usually provides :)
If you learn more about natural medicines, you'll see they all work on this basis, really. Unlike modern medicine, which treats the symptoms (be it a sniffle or cancer), natural medicines go after the cause.
Okay, stopping now!

I agree. The mind and body are so closely related, that they are considered to be the same thing by most modern psychologists and doctors. For instance, the stress response: the way that you appraise a given situation can change how your body reacts to it, whether you release catecolamines like epinephrine and norepinephrine or you release glucocorticoids (cortisol) which has been shown to have negative effects on health, such as suppressing the immune system, but positive as well, like preventing autoimmune disorders. You should also read the book "Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers" by Robert Sapolsky. He talks all about the mind body connection in relation to our social world, specifically stress and the negative outcomes of it. He also discusses ways to combat this.

I think every second, our body is connected with our mind. Without the help of mind our body can't move a single step . When we want to walk our mind send order to our legs and suddenly blood circulation increase towards legs, which help us to run or walk.
Similarly our feelings in mind very much effect our body. If we will think negatively then it's certainly we will move towards negative side. Some time we become ill because we don't care our-self because of such negative thoughts.
According to me we can remain very much healthy if we will think positively, do positive work because remember every time your mind is ordering your body, you can be free , but your mind is not free for second.

I completely agree with you on this. It has been proven that the mind (via stress) can cause our bodies too breakdown(so to speak). It can also help us heal faster too. There have been many studies on this and I find it fascinating. It just goes to show you how powerful the mind is.Great question by the way.Thanks.

I think your mental state has a lot to do with your body and how you feel. If you are tired and not getting enough sleep, you feel cranky and might get headaches and feel like crap, but if you are well rested and mentally alert you are more apt to be positive and happy and feel great. Even after exercising I find my mind gets a positive boost.
