I had a small d/s loo put into my house. The pedestal sink is small and I want to BUY a tiled splashback that can just be stuck onto the wall - is this possible.. or do I need to get hold of a dozen tiles and get it done properly? I'm sure I remember these from years ago!

Yes, not sure about the UK though. In the states there is a material called maralite. It comes in 4'x8' sheets. It can be cut & placed on the wall with either nails or mastic. It is just as easy & more durable to use ceramic tiles. As long as the subsurface is in good shape all you do is put on the mastic & place the tiles. There are two kinds of mastic. 1 ( white ) is for placing tiles on a wall. The other ( Gray ) is for floors. Mark the area to be tiled with pancil or tape. The mastic once it set is very hard to remove. After setting for 24 hours apply grout.
