Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life and that no one comes to God the Father except through Him. If you say this is not true, what would be His purpose in telling these things?

Such a wonderful question. The way I always saw it was, there are three things that Jesus could have been.
Lunatic
Liar
Lord

He clearly wasn't a lunatic, as He did not do things such as a mad man would.
Liar? So many things He said were true, or came true throughout the gospels, He was definitely not a Liar...
now what does that leave us with?

we could ask why Hitler told the Big Lie, or Bush and Blair told the lie about Iraq having WMD's, even though their secret services said otherwise.

For the 50 years leading up to the birth of Jesus there were a large number of prophets who all said the same things he is said to have said. Some of their teachings were incorporated into the Christian Church.. the ceremony of bread and wine, from the followers of Mithra, who was born and died before Jesus did. The followers of the Mother of God, Isis, were forcibly converted into Christian nuns, various prophets healed the sick in front of Roman officials, one healed a woman who had been declared dead for 10 days. Some of them walked on water, and were seen to do so by Roman officials. Several of them fed vast masses of people on a few loaves of bread and fish, 20 years or more before Jesus was said to have done so. Some of them baptized, such as John the Baptist, some passed on the holy spirit, again, before Jesus was even born.

Many of the teachings attributed to Jesus have been shown to be contained in the Dead Sea scrolls, which were written before his birth. It has been suggested he studied with the order that kept these scrolls.

Some of the exact same things Jesus said and did, had been said and done in both India and China by prophets over a 1000 years before Jesus was born. According to the Vedas, some where said and done over 7000 years before he was born.

Most of these prophets said they were the truth, the life and that no one comes to God except through them.

What is well documented, is that Jesus had a very good network of disciples with many talents and the ability to inspire people. So do we ask what the purpose of all these other prophets before Jesus and why they said the same things and did the same things he said and did?

I don't know myself, it all seems part and parcel to the lies we get now from both our politicians and religious leaders. I'd like to believe, but to do so blindly, knowing he just repeated others?

Seems an odd philosophy.

I am the truth and the life, and no one comes to God the Father except through me.

Now I must really be the Truth and the Life, because I just said it. Why would I say it if it wasn't true?

Jesus is the way, truth and life--this is true; Jesus didn't lie. If you studied mainstream christianity; they're not following (Phil.2:21; Col.2:8)Jesus and/or his teachings. Most (Matt.7:13)people don't follow his example in the scriptures (1Pet.2:21; Col.2:6). So to me the one's that don't follow his truth are the one's that are denying him and his way. They say the Sabbath as well as the Sabbath Feast Days are done away with; how can this be if Jesus kept them; if Jesus kept them, shouldn't we follow (Eph.2:20)him?

"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments." = John 2:3
"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." = John 2:4

(EXOD.20:8-11)SABBATH-Saturday {Luke 4:16; Mark 2:27-28; John 4:22-24} This is the 4th commandment in God's Law.

Interpretations can be many...and you have to grasp yours as you feel it. However, what Jesus was actually saying was simply that his example of living & dealing here was just that--an example. As far as being the only way to God, how does that ring to your heart sounds? Do you not feel as Jesus--a part of this grand entitiy? Do you feel less a person, less loved, less capable than Jesus? Nay--you are all that & "all these things so shall you do...and even more....". When you read other literatures, do you take pieces out of context? Nay, again--you enjoy the whole book, take what adds to you, leave the rest...do you strive to remember every paragraph, number it & remember that part, too? Is it truly worth your energies to do so?
Please think for Self, allow others to do the same, and enjoy the life you have here. Leave your footprints...and Good Journey!

Jesus was a prophet send by God to deliver God's message, but unfortunately very few accepted him.

Jesus never said to worship Jesus and to worship God.

Satan has misguided the people and made it appear so (no Offence meant)

Mental illness. There are still many mental patients who believe themselves to be Jesus or God. There's nothing new under the sun.

Your question assumes a number of things:
1. Jesus lived.
2. Jesus said those things.
3. Jesus is the son of God.

As it stands now, those claims are a matter of faith, not proven fact. I encourage anyone to think critically with regard to beliefs. It is only by questioning them that beliefs take true meaning.

If you believe only because someone told you what to believe, do you really believe? Is your faith unshakeable? Only you can answer your question.

What people are not understanding with CC's question is what IF Jesus Lied.? WHY would.?

IF he lied, (which I do not believe) He would have done it for what every reason every one else does. To get attention or to trick people, for fame.

I like most know that christ did not lie about anything and is who he says and we believe him to be.

Peace

Why does Sun Myung Moon say the same things, what would be HIS purpose in lying? It's all crap, there are no such things as gods.
