I know that this is something that alot of people don't like to think about, much less talk about... but I think that when you die, you no longer exist in the physical & spiritual, just like when you were'nt born yet. Does anyone share this same theory. I think you won't exist until judement day comes.... A friend of mine said that on that day, you won't recognize anyone you knew before. What do you think?

Death is a transition. From one state of existence to another. The Bible says "apart from the body, face to face with the Lord." And in the Old Testament there is the story of Lazarus and the rich man, they were dead, yet one lived in paradise and one lived in torment. In the New Testament Paul went to Heaven after being stoned to death at Listra. So if you are asking from a Christian perspective----there is life before judgement day. You obviously seem to be a believer, so for you it will be Heaven, just like a light switch turning off and quickly back on. Look up NDE'S, or near death experiences--you cannot discount the fact that people from all over the world, and from many cultures all describe basically the same thing, the tunnel of light, loved ones who died previously. Death is a part of life, and not to be feared. I hope this helps. And there will be recognition in Heaven, Christ had already died, and was resurrected, and was recognizeable to the disciples. In the old testament, the rich man recognized Lazarus.

I do not have a personal theory I know what the Bible says, and this is what I believe, it says in the Bible:"The living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the rememberance of them has been forgotten.(Ecclesiastes9:5) Yes that means that they no longer exist in any form way or shape as you say in your comment just like before you existed before you uyou existedthere was nothingness so is it after death, about not recognising anyone you knew before I don't know about that one haven't thought about that part but I would think that it would be a very happy time to see those dead loved ones be resurrected back to life again and if you couldn't recognise them then you would miss out on the experiance but I'm not sure I haven't read anything like it in the Bible.

I think you become an energy being in another dimension and live a very interesting existence learning about everything through thought not just speech. You learn about past lives and how creation operates.Love is ever where by everyone you meet and you finally realize all the things you wondered about. You prepare to your return journey to the physical plane and who you will be I do agree you forget who you where so life wont be so confusing and you can start the phyical growth learning process at a different level than the last life time.Mind you just a guess

Death, as we term it, is simply a transition...we go home. You see, this place & time we are in right now is just an educational trip that allows us the opportunity to actually experience who we are in reality....we are entities of a spirit essence in a human experience....most fear death because they see themselves here as humans in a spiritual experience....no, no, no (ha ha!!)

We go back from whence we came, we know everyone there, have hobbies, have talents, trades, a social life, ect...just on a different perspective level--much higher than here--much higher.
Do not waylay your opportunities here to become all you can--it is why you are human, do not fear change because it is inevitable, and those you love here will available soon at home as well--it's all o.k. and works out just fine. And by the way, there is no "jusdgement day" save the time you can overview what you did during your stay & judge for yourself whether or not it suited your personal needs.

Good Journey!!!

I'm a very happy person and I think of death everyday in a 'happy' way...haha. Ok, seriously, I would agree with your friend. You won't remember your previous life now. And the next life you go in to, you won't remember this life. But you do meet up with some of the people you met this time, but won't know so. When you die, your soul leaves the body and chooses to be born again later. When you reach that stage, you will know how it is to be formless and traverse from this life to the next where you will again forget things until you finish with that life and once again move on. Rebirth is inevitable until you have matured into a peaceful soul that lives it's last life and goes back to become part of God from whom you came out of and began your first life in the first place.

When we die our souls go to HADES which is the resting place that has Paradise and torment. Saved souls wait in Paradise and Lost soul in Torment.

Yes we will have new incorruptible bodies when Christ returns and yes, I believe we will recognize others.

Read the story of the rich man and Lazarus. In short the rich man had everything while on this earth and Lazarus was a beggar and had nothing. They both die, Rich man goes to torment and Lazarus to Paradise. The rich man looks up and sees Lazarus in Abrahams bosom and begs him to allow Lazarus to dip his fingers in cold water and give it to him, Abraham tells him that is impossible and to remember how things were when he was on the earth. The rich man wanted to go back to earth to warn his brothers and Abraham said that was impossible and even if one came back from the dead some still would not believe ( meaning Christ did come back and was being rejected).

Yes there will be great rejoicing for the saved and weeping for the lost.

BUT No tears in Heaven.

At the time of Jesus, the discussion of life after death was often debated. Jesus answered this question.
Mt 17, 2-3 is the story of Jesus being transfigured before Peter, James and John with Moses and Elijah appearing before them.
Jesus In Matthew 22: 32, Jesus told the disciples that God was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. "He is not the God of the dead but of the living."
Christ said that He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Outside of Scripture, we also have examples, that we can not prove, of people who have died and come back. A common experience is that of seeing loved ones who have died before them.
The Church teaches that there is a Communion of Saints.
We remember certain canonized saints and also all of the saints on the feast of All Saints.
I personally believe in the afterlife. In my job I often am with people who are dying or who are very sick. Their belief in Christ and in the after life helps them to take the next step knowing that we were made for God and will all someday return to God.

There are two things to differentiate here. A body can easily die. This doesn't mean you, as a spiritual being, die. You go on to live another life. This is not a Christian view but a more eastern religious view. The difference though is its workability and proof.

I really am not sure if we go directly to heaven when we die or if we are like in a sleep state. But i think the christians that have already died will be resurrected from the ground or whereever and meet with Jesus in the air.
I do beleive that we will know the people that we knew here on earth but we will all be a family, all brothers and sisters in Christ. That is just my opinion

Death is just part of a cycle. All living things die. After death we are judged by God for all our Deeds and Sins. Depending on the judgement, we either go to Heaven, purgatory or Hell.
