Hey, coursework is gold! It's the bit you have the most control over, because exams are completely unpredictable. Put the effort in and you can go into the exams knowing you only need a 50 to get a good over all grade.

I used to teach at uni and I'll give you a good tip - regardless of what you are studying, good presentation, correct spelling, and good grammar are more important than you could possibly imagine.

Good luck.

Coursework is a gift to most pupils. It allows you to avoid exam nerves and demonstrate your full potential over a long period. Unfortunately, some see this as an oppotunity to cheat like mad.

Strangely, teachers and parents cheat just as much as pupils when it comes to coursework. I have taught at schools where the teachers have actually done significant amounts of their pupil's coursework when the deadline has neared. This is why the government is considering scrapping coursework all together - which would be a shame.

it is evil cos it takes up so much time and is really tedious and boring, but there are good points:
a) you can listen to music, or play online at the same time
b) if there was no coursework, all your exam grades would depend entirely on the exam, where you might get nerves and do really badly, or be ill, or not know stuff. At least when doing csewk you're under less time pressure, and can go away and look the answers up, or abandon it for now if you get annoyed. You can't do that in an exam. I know i feel safer knowing i've already got 20% of my grade done.

Coursework tests you under different conditions to exams. You have access to reference material, the time limits aren't (or shouldn't!!!) be so tight and in a lot of courses you have some say in what you do. Plus in some courses your coursework can help you prepare for your exams. Finally there are some people who get really really stressed about exams and I would imagine they are pretty miserable at examtime......

Horrible as it is, it does get you 25% of your marks before you even set foot in an exam, so if you have a disaster on the day it's not a cimplete loss. It also lets you prove what you can do. Try and think of it as a piece of portfolio work - it might be useful in an interview to show what a good communicator/ logical thinker/ planner/ organiser you are.

you can see it in a different light, that it is beneficial for you, like what all teachers say. but if you pretend you enjoy doing coursework, then you soon will enjoy doing coursework, then its not so miserable. if not, just eat something or listen to music while doing coursework =)

I loved the coursework part of my GCSEs and did well in it. It was the exam parts I was terrible in.

If it was ALL exams I would have got ungraded in the whole lot.
