Excellent point. Personally, I'm tired of hearing the whole "Christianity has been around since the dawn of time" argument. It's desperation that drives people to say silly things like that. And they know it wasn't around then. It just appears that when they lose some ground in the public, they throw out anything to try to gain it back. They don't realize they lose even more credibility when they throw something as obviously wrong as this out.

To begin with, Christianity didn't exist before Christ. Before that it was Judaism. Secondly, paganism is a VERY broad term which encompasses multiple nature-based religious practices, so it would be hard to say any one of them is from the dawn of time. Actually, I find the theory of evolution quite convincing, and therefore doubt any religion was around since the dawn of time.
As for Christianity lying, I wouldn't take things they say literally, but taken figuratively there's probably some truth in a lot of their teachings.

Well of course there were tons of religions around before both Judaism and Christianity. Ever hear of Dagon,or perhaps his son Baal who died and then rose from the dead,an event his followers celebrated centuries before the birth of Christ. Not exactly an original idea I guess. Mankind has been around much much longer than Judaism and men without science to explain the mysteries of the world always turn to supernatural explanations. Like the people who once thought that illnesses were caused by evil spirits. Sort of like the man in the Bible who was supposedly possessed by demons, most likely simply some mentally ill man, like many before him and many since. A man who in the dark ages would likely have been executed because he was possessed. In reality Judaism and Christianity are only the oldest religions of what could be called the modern era of mankind, they not only were preceded by others they also took on traits of others to convert followers, they have like all religions been a sham since their inception.

Pagans were around before Abraham. Cain, Adams first son and the first human of record to be born, was the father of paganism. Although Cain believed in God and spoke with God, Cain did not worship God. Cain was expelled from the presence of God for murder. I believe that the mark that God put upon Cain was that of paganism. Abraham was a descendant of Seth, Adams third born son who took Cain's place in the royal lineage from Adam.
In a sense Christians have been around since the beginning, since we can claim our inheritance through Christ, and Jesus is in the line of Seth. From an absolute standpoint, we have been around since the first advent of Christ, as related in the New Testament.
The Bible is not wrong---it is God's word and God's word is infallible. What IS fallible is man's interpretation of the Bible. Misinterpretation does not make a person a liar----deliberate deception makes a person a liar; therefore, the devil is a liar because he willfully deceives. I hope that you find these comments of some help. Thank you for your question. Jesus loves you.

because of the fact Christians have self assurance that the worldwide is purely around 6000 years previous. God created Adam and Eve, no longer Adam and Steve. No different cultures existed in the previous then and no different cultures remember. They concern their God and don't wanna piss him off or they're going to go through eternal torment in hell. (would not sound like an all loving God to me. Sounds greater like an evil super villain.) playstation ... Marriage has continually been between one guy and one lady??? Abraham's spouse made him marry her servant while she could no longer make a baby. while she did finally have a baby she have been given jealous of her servant and the youngster and exiled them. How loving and god like is that... LOL?

i try not to use that book for factual evidence, seing as how it was created during a time of political upheaval in Rome. Archaeology does show us that not only were there religions before Christianity and Judaism, but that there were more than one around at the same time, many of them based on practises we would today class as paganism. Egyptian religion is one of the best recorded early forms of paganism.

Neither. Abraham was not the founder of the Jewish faith. Adam and Eve were the first Jews.
Genesis 4:26
Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.
At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD.

Today's Christianity Not Jesus' Religion*
[5:72] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah himself said, "O Children of Israel, you shall worship GOD; my Lord and your Lord." Anyone who sets up any idol beside GOD, GOD has forbidden Paradise for him, and his destiny is Hell. The wicked have no helpers.
[5:73] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is a third of a trinity. There is no god except the one god. Unless they refrain from saying this, those who disbelieve among them will incur a painful retribution.
[5:74] Would they not repent to GOD, and ask His forgiveness? GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[5:75] The Messiah, son of Mary, is no more than a messenger like the messengers before him, and his mother was a saint. Both of them used to eat the food. Note how we explain the revelations for them, and note how they still deviate!
[5:76] Say, "Would you worship beside GOD powerless idols who can neither harm you, nor benefit you? GOD is Hearer, Omniscient."

*5:72-76 In John 20:17, we see that Jesus taught that he was neither God, nor the son of God. Many theologians have concluded, after careful research, that today's Christianity is not the same Christianity taught by Jesus. Two outstanding books on this subject are "The Myth of God Incarnate" (The Westminster Press, Philadelphia, 1977) and The "Mythmaker" (Harper & Row, New York, 1986). On the front jacket of "The Mythmaker" we read the following statement:
" ...Hyam Maccoby presents new arguments to support the view that Paul, not Jesus, was the founder of Christianity....it was Paul alone who created a new religion through his vision of Jesus as a divine Saviour who died to save humanity."

Did Jesus or his Apostles follow a religion called Christianity? Who were the first 'Christians' ? Who founded Christianity and do the teachings of Christianity conform to the teachings of Jesus?
The teachings of Paul, the true founder of Christianity, cannot be found anywhere in the teachings of Jesus or in those of prophets before him.

We never said our religion was around since the dawn of time, because it wasn't! It's been around for more than 2000 years!

Your question is invalid. It does not mean that because Christianity has been around for yonks that paganism hasnt been!
Pagans HAVE been around for about the same amount of time Christians have been around (and you cant say "Christians" because Christians only came after Jesus Christ and by the time Jesus Christ came around, there were pagans and many other false religions already).
So friend, what was your point again?
