hard to explain the style of fork lift, but it's not the one where the operator sits in it, they stand on the back of it and operate it from there

Thanks for the link, it was the straddle fork lift i was after details, but did not know the correct name.

Height of which part of the truck? The bit you stand on or the top of the cab or the height to which the forks can reach?

May be you mean about man lift. All forklifts that I know operators sits in in and operates, but the man lifts can be operated form out of it or from basket. May be you saw one of remote controlled kind of equipment.
