Obesity surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare. Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as obesity surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India.
Many patients travel from United States of America and UK to get low cost Obesity surgery in India. Indian corporate hospitals are comparable to hospitals anywhere in the world. In fact, India has medical facilities that are comparable with the USA, UK and Canada. India offers World Class Medical Facilities, comparable with any of the western countries. India has state of the art Hospitals and the best medical experts. With the best infrastructure, the best possible Medical facilities, accompanied with the most competitive prices, you can get the treatment done in India at the lowest prices.

Any surgery can be dangerous. But not having it can be more dangerous. Most people who have done it are happy and slim now ( I just watched a TV show about it). But it does keep some percentage of the substances you eat out of your system, so perhaps you will have to get some vitamins and supplements in order to balance that.

Gastric Bypass (GBP) refers to a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight as fatty tissue, and the resultant health problems ("co-morbidities") which occur. Bariatric surgery is the surgical treatment of morbid obesity, and includes the gastric bypass procedures as one of several classes of operations.
A gastric bypass consists of a division of the stomach into a small upper pouch and a much larger, lower "remnant" pouch, accompanied by re-arrangement of the small intestines to permit both pouches to remain connected. The manner in which the intestines are reconnected gives rise to several variations of the procedure. The operation leads to a marked reduction in the functional volume of the stomach, accompanied by an altered physiological and psychological response to food. Weight loss is typically dramatic, and co-morbidities are markedly reduced.

If your doctor wants you to have it, and you've gone through the year of psychological testing to see if your a good candidate for it, then you shouldn't have to ask us, should you? or, do you have doubts? we can't tell you how you should feel.
My sister was over 300, very pretty, had diabetes, high blood, heart murmur, took meds for just about everything. After one year she's down to 120, no meds, back to her beautiful radiant self. She went through a one year evaluation course where one in four were accepted for this "program" the hospital had. Not everyone is accepted and, some want to go back, they miss eating.
