I don't know about other people but at this time of year my OCD seems to be worse. Like my Christmas lights all have to be working, and they have to be in the right roder (ie the bulbs have to all be the same, like red, then blue, then green, then orange). I set for two hours fixing the order the light bulbs were in. Even my Christmas tree lets people know I have OCD. It has to be done a certain way, certain colors, nice and neat, because I can't handle the messy. Usually mine isn't quite so bad as it is around Christmas.
Normally, I count things a lot, like only so many spoons or forks are allowed in each little section of the caddy. Plus, everything has to be in a certain place. Luckily for me, my fiance knows that sometimes it's just easier for him to let me put things away than for him to help, because when they are in the wrong spot, I get frustrated.
I also have a bad habit of checking to make sure the front door is locked when I am home. I'm getting a little better about the constant hand washing, but I guess I should admit I am trading one habit for another, because while I don't as often go to the sink and soap up, I use the hand sanitizer more frequently.
Symptoms vary from person to person. I hope you learn what you need to know. Good luck.

I need to wash my hands all the time, after touching certain things/materials.
I need both sides of my body to feel even. If my right hand is wet I need my left hand to be wet too for example.
I align objects to be at the perfect angle and things must be turned and ordered in a particular way and I can get stuck "correcting" things in a room until everything is exactly how my obsession says they have to be.
I check things repeatedly.
I count things a lot (in groups of five or two).
Those are the symptoms I experience most often, but sometimes I have other symptoms too.

People with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) have persistent, upsetting thoughts (obsessions) and use rituals (compulsions) to control the anxiety these thoughts produce. Most of the time, the rituals end up controlling them.

I have a good friend who has OCD, he has to do things over and over again.. sometimes he asks me to time him so he will stop doing it. He washes his hands over and over again, he can't put disks back in the cases because he wants them to be perfect.. things like that.
I help him out when he is in need. Recently he had to move back in with his parents because his OCD got really bad. He needs to be around people a lot of the time to get his mind off of it.
He also has to touch something more than once to make sure it's locked or on (like locking a door in a car or touching a bottle of pop on the cap).
I just help him out the best I can and try to take his mind off of it by talking about things he's interested in.

i have to continuously wash my hands ..
if I am on the train to work and hold the railing, i try not to touch my face until my hands are washed.
this is along with anything I touch
It gets worse if I go to the ladies to wash my hands and I need to open the door, i pull my sleeve over my hand to open the door.
I dont know why I do this and i cannot stop this.
