No, you don't. Even people who do not live in the States can own property.
I have owned a house for many years without having a green card, or any other document, besides a regular tourist visa whenever I chose to stay in the house. Obviously my stay was limited to the amount of time the tourist visa granted me.
My experience is in the State of Florida. Other states may have other regulations, but I don't think so.

No. As long as you have a proved source of income, you can own a house/land.

No, you do not need to wait any time, if you are legally living there and have a job or the money you do not need to wait

You don't even have to be a legallly in this country to own property. Or own a business. Believe it or not, immgration status has nothing to do with what a person does with his or her own money.
