I try to spell your religion's name correctly, should I even trouble myself to do this? Why don't you learn how to spell mine?

MUSLIMS: not Moslems, not Musolines....
Qur'an: Not Curan, not Korean
Muhammed: not Mohamid
Whatever happened to being polite?

i didn't used to capitalise any religion or God for that matter until i knew how it upset people
i do it now ... because i care about respecting people and their faith
yes people should be respectful enough to take care to get names correct i agree

We should try and make the effort to spell each others names/ religions correctly. Some people are just not very good at spelling and people shouldn't sweat the small stuff. That doesn't mean others should intentionally try to spell things wrong just to irk them. That would just be childish. If you know the correct spelling of a religion or god, spell it right. If not, just do your best and hope the stupid spell check feature is actually working for once.

As the word for the Muslim holy book was originally written in Arabic, there are several possible phonetic translations, including KORAN, The Noble Qur'an", Quran and Al-Quran. In a similar manner both Moslem and Muslim are used, as are Mohammed and Muhammed (and accepted by most without anyone getting upset or offended). As I work in the law in an area with a significant Muslim population I see many variations of Mohammed used by clients and no-one ever takes offence if their version is somehow different from someone else's spelling.
I'm terribly sorry if you're upset by other people's use of a word which has no definitive, direct and universally accepted translation into English but you have to bear in mind that a significant number of people who use this site are unable to even spell English words correctly.
Personally, I find being called an "Infidel" insulting irrespective of how it's spelt.
I would venture to suggest that Yahoo Answers is not really the place to be for anyone who is easily offended, although it does appear to attract many who are only too willing to be offended on the flimsiest of pretexts in order to pick a fight and stir up an argument.

There are many different translations of Arabic script,there is no 'one' perfect translation.Take a certain sheik for example.His surname is originally written in Arabic script,and translates into various ways in English:such as El-Hilaly,Al-Hilaly,Elihilay,Alhilaly.I,for the record,have always used 'Muslim' and 'Qur'an',but these aren't,by definition,the 'correct' way to spell it.As I said before,Arabic script differs from the English language.

Some people just don't know how to spell. Nothing personal. Hope you're really not that easily offended. On this site it gets worse. All religions here take a beating.

I agree that some askers in this website don't even bother to spell the names correctly. That show attitude. If their attitude is "ignorance", so how can we expect them to learn the true teaching of Islam?
I believe it is your duty or religious obligation to be patience, perserverance and to politely educate the community of this website about the true teaching of Islam.
If there are 100 ignorant askers who ask about and at the same time insult Islam and you patiently answer their question, even if you can persuade only one person to get to know true Islam, it is a big success for you and your religion.

Moslem is an accepted form of Muslim in English. Mohammad, Mohammed are also both accepted froms. These and the word Koran are accepted forms going back in history two to three hundred years. You should not be offended. Rather be offended that some of the brothers and sisters are causing terror around the world.

There are a lot of spellings of 'Qur'an' in the media. Thank you for your information, I shall use yours from now on.

I think people of your religion have more pressing things to worry about besides the way people spell words -- such as the tremendous amount of violence and death caused by the radicals within your ranks, often against fellow Muslims.
