Ok to me a FEW minutes means within a 20 minute time frame.
So at work in school, the management of the apartments, people who I deal with in repairs, and people I deal with professionally for business, all say "I will call you RIGHT BACK in a few minutes" and I wait and I wait and they never do. When I CALL THEM BACK, they act like nothing happened. Why doesn't anyone keep their word in calling back? don't they know I am paying them money for business? Why do people lie and say this? If they can't call me back in a few minutes then why don't they just say that?

I live in the USA and I PAY THE PHONE BILL using my own minutes and my own cell phone. I am very polite on the phone and I sound nice, so it has nothing to do with over complaining and whining. My mom's house was on fire and I was calling to see when the adjuster would come. I only stayed on the phone for 1 minute or less and they keep saying they will "CALL ME BACK IN A FEW MINUTES" or "let me call you back REAL QUICK" or "I will call you RIGHT BACK" .
It annoys me when people don't call me back at all period.

True, very seldom will you find someone who actually keeps their word. That's what happens with the world full of conglomerates and us turning into a society of instant gratification and convenience. It's as if YOU were interrupting THEM.

there are vary reasons, but one thing is clear if the call is in our favor then there are very few chances to say that. Mostly it does not happened by default when they say this bcoz they have other works which are urgent to do. On other hand some people don't want others to pay phone bill to others. Sometime they are busy time or they just want to ring back when they have time.

In the businessworld, every second really counts. And this is not a 'practised phrase' that they just say to leave you hanging; most of the time they're not intentional. Soe people get so caughtup in other deals too that perhaps they have said the same phrase to a couple of days back. It's just really a matter of also you being responsible enough to take it as that, and follow up with them if you really are interested.

It's a fairly common lie at the hands of companies, and sometimes acquaintances. I wouldn't take them too literally at their word. It's not so much a case of how many minutes it really takes them, it's more about whether they call you back at all. It's when people don't bother calling back at all that really winds me up.
Maybe when you do call them back, ask why you have had to do that. Confront them about it. Especially if you are a paying customer. It's really in their interests to keep you happy, so let them know that you are not.

That is because they get a barrage of other things to do.....
I had someone in the UK on hold yesterday. I told her I'd take the information and call her right back.... I intended no more than 5 minutes....
But, it became what would be construed as "crunch" time when I hung up with her..... I received a borrage of calls soon as I hung up.....
I wasn't able to return her call for nearly a half hour.......
Business calls!!!!

To me I guess it's the high number of callers so it makes them to slightly forget who they were first talking to, it's either that or they just don't want to talk anymore. But by right they're trained to give good costumer service do they even know they are recorded with the customer half the time? I think that's rude thoe but funny enough they return the call a few days after lol.

I find this to be more true of friends/family/acquaintances ... I have rarely dealt with a business person that did not abide by the "code" when it comes to returning calls ....
But like I said ... friends and family do it all the time! And I'm guessing it's just because they know you won't get mad over it ... atleast not STAY mad ...
Kind of like the whole ... "we hurt our loved ones the most..." We take them for granted, because we assume they'll stick around no matter what.
BUT it IS very rude ... one of my pet peeves~!!!!!

I work at a Law Firm and we're pretty good about that. It bothers me though when people can't just let me take a message for them and give it to whoever, the client would rather them call back. In all honesty it's faster for them to let me take a message and give it to them.

It depends on who is calling them.
Sometimes the person calling is a real ''whiner,tight-wad,complainer, pain in the rearend,''that will not take NO politely for a answer so they lie to them to pacify them.
Also occasionally they get busy and/or just forget or they just don't want your business.
Call someone that will take your dollar with a smile on there face.
I'll call later. LOL

Well, most probably, they never want the kind of request you're asking them to do or maybe they are too lazy to call back. But there are times that they really forgot. Well, but it's too hard to know if they are forgetful or just simply pretending to be one.
