its from beauty and the beast when gaston gets the towns people all wild and they go to "save" belle :)

To "kill the beast" can mean a few different things. I know someone who refers to that when speaking of the desire to kill the animal desires within...

Of course there's the literal sense also, and then there's satiation of hunger..
