Christians are you really 100% open minded, can you believe that the universe could well have formed from the big bang and life formed on earth without God(s) created. Or that fact that the universe was formed from solid state theory in which that it has always been here. Or in fact that the univerise undergoes cycles of great change on itsself ie how many big bangs have there been in the existance of the univerise. Or that we may never know why the univerise is here. If you can’t be open minded to the fact that God may not exist, can you really blame atheists for being closed minded if you can’t accept the fact that God may not exist.

True - for both sides.

But as I said in that earlier question, open minded does not mean suspending all your beliefs, inclinations and the evidence staring you in the face.

It says in the bible to search out your own salvation with fear and trembleling, I don't believe in blind faith, The Beareans in the bible were exhorted for asking questions. I have been a christian all of my life, when I was in my 20's I had to resovle a few questions I had, I had to examine the questions from both sides. It was a great time for me as I studied the two opposing, sometimes interconnecting sides to science and religion. I did and here I am a stronger christian than ever in my 30's. I looked into world religons, science, eveloution, creation, I think it is our responsiblility as Christians to understand why we believe what we believe and to be able and ready to give a good account for that. Personally this open minded thing is a like a trap door to me. Christians are constantly being accused of not being open minded because they have strong faith and stand on the written word of God. I think more of the people who question our lack of open mindness should study the Bible, make a project out of it attack it with the verocity that you do with any question in your life, then you make an educated choice based on what you have studied. A good book to read of someone who did this , approached the matter as a crime that took place, in the death of Christ, he examined all of the evidence and came to a conclusion in his book A Case For Christ you will see the logic and reason he uses to solve the mystery. How much of the bible do you actually know, what about creation science, it's all very interesting and it might spark your curiosity. Like I said earlier Eternity is in my heart and the bible says that, not me, but I feel it, I know it. I know without a shadow of doubt where I will spend that eternity, it's not so much about being open minded it's about being sure. If you don't have that then I am sorry because I can't imagine how that would feel, to just die, for that to be it, 6 feet under and it's over. Are you open minded that there just might be a creator and God of the universe?

If you can cope with all those possibilities, you find that you don't have much in common with the bulk of church going Christians and end up being a fringe dweller. There is great fear about facing possibilities that conflict with the standard set of beliefs, which indicates a high level of insecurity rather than faith. I think the fear is basically " What if I find out that things are not exactly as I have been taught - what do I believe then??" Of course, this is not confined to Christians - other religions and atheists react the same way.

Sure I could be wrong and God might not exist. But to me He is real. I've experienced Him personally. I've seen Him do miracles and answer prayers. And even more, I've seen Him change people's lives (including my own). Believing in Him and trusting Him with everything gives me peace, hope, meaning and purpose in life. So even if I'm wrong, I would have lived a good, meaningful life here on earth and I wouldn't have missed anything. But if you're wrong? What would you do when you enter eternity and find that God does exist and He holds you accountable for the choices you made on earth? You might lose a lot more.

If you were to look at an encyclopedia, you would never be so open-minded to conclude that it could have "just happened" unless you are an idiot. But on the other hand, you take something as complex as the dynamics of a strand of DNA and because you think in your darkened mind that it is really quite simple, you conclude no intelligence was necessary for its launch onto the plane of existence, YET it is far more complex than an entire SET of encyclopedias with every letter and word in the exact order necessary for it to even work. and that's just ONE strand of DNA... how many cells does the human body have? and how many strands of DNA??? and that all by chance??? I think NOT...

Your reasoning would also conclude that if enough volcanoes blew up over a long enough time, that eventually one would form a city... right?

makes about as much sense as thinking all this could come about by chance... open your mind to the real truth:

In the beginning, GOD

You try so hard to dis-prove God, You mention the big bang, what about it, who created it, God did, Only a person with a demonic spirit would try to dis-prove God, & if he can't dis-prove God, then I also know that satan can be religious, The main thing satan wants all people to get away from is the TRUTH. Now you ask me if I am open minded, I am if I can trust that person, & know what his motive is, I am not a Novice in serving God, Over 36 yrs. of serving God, I know when to also close my mind to something that is not truth, Now many of you athisets, agnostics, Unbelievers & make-believers Have always try to change our minds, Your mind is open to anything, until your mind is of no use, since you have closed your mind in Believeing that there is no God. There is NOTHING you can say or show to dis-prove God, But I have all I need to prove God.

When you can tell me exactly what salt tastes like, assuming I have never tasted it or seen it, without using the word salt in any shape or form, then I will believe you. Until then, you should just accept the fact that we believe God created this world and universe. We already accept the fact that you believe as you do.

Beloved, I cannot deny what I know to be true. I am sorry that you see that as close-minded.

The rational approach to creation would have gone against everything that the Christians believed. And their faith expressly stated that they must follow the word of G-d, as close as possible. See the quandary they are in.

It's just really hard to even imagine that all this could exist without a higher power, regardless of it's name or it's basis.
