I'm no doctor, but in the studies I've heard of seem to paint a picture that our bodies take a "Use it, or lose it" approach. Both physical exercise and challenging the brain appear to help stave off dreaded diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Video games do stimulate and challenge the brain, BUT I doubt that's the only thing you'd need to do. Basically, I think that like changing up a routine at the gym, we need to avoid falling into a repetitive routine in how we live our lives. My opinion is that we all need to challenge ourselves in different ways and to be constantly learning new things, or our minds and bodies will abandon us.

From all the recent info,it really does. Learning another language, crossword puzzles, learning the computer. The old addage,"what you don't use ,you lose",really holds true here. Anything new we learn develops more synapses in our brain. Did you know that is where the saying "they have alot of snap"comes from?A synapse is a completion of an electrical signal in the brain that in essence is building new roads in our thinking process.

Physical games will keep you fit and video games will make you lazy... baseball, basketball or simple running throughout the life are excellent ways of "slowing down the aging process"as you call it.
Cheers.

Physical games do. They make your body stronger.
Video games don't. They make you more prone to being blind earlier.
