It means the force of Gravity, which is equal to 9.80665 m/s^2.
so 1g = 9.8 m/s^2
2g = 2 X 9.8 m/s^2
and so on..
The g is used primarily in aerospace fields, where it is a convenient magnitude when discussing the loads on aircraft and spacecraft (and their pilots or passengers). The g is also used in automotive engineering, mainly in relation to cornering forces and collision analysis.
Hope that helps.

g (also gee, g-force or g-load) is a non-SI unit of acceleration defined as exactly 9.806 65 m/s², which is approximately equal to the acceleration due to gravity on the Earth's surface.
